That's more a trait than a gimmick, really, pretty much EVERY face at least in the last 25 years has been a 'never say die' guy. I know I'd find it weird if a face wasn't "never say die". "You know what? You're 7 foot tall in bare feet, and have an excruciating finisher- but I'm gonna fight you until I get tired or it hurts a lot!" Thinking about the 'boss character' being overused... I once read a how-to on running a small promotion that suggested that if you were doing long-term angles, the only one you can count on to show up and do what you want all the time, every time is you- so (the guy said) it makes sense to put yourself in there. Which makes sense as a trick for small-time promotions... but why would the McMahons go there, then? They have all the sticks and carrots in the world to have people show up, do what they want, and make a good show of it... ego, then?
