I can't help you as we clearly have different tastes in comedy... How can you hate any of the classic ___ mov... yeah I can't even fake that But you already said you couldn't finish Hot Fuzz or Shaun of the Dead which are two of my favorite "recent" movies... as well as Borat and Napoleon Dynamite which I enjoyed... though people constantly repeating the jokes from both got damn annoying.

What? Form your own opinions. And not to seem dickish, but you write for a media site. How would I possibly take you seriously if you stay way from films just based on what someone tells you? You're kind of making it your job to drink in as much media as possible. But again, my favorite movie of all time is Anchorman, so what do I know? People staying away from films because of people's opinion that they trust and respect is wrong? FIRE ROGER EBERT! GOODBYE MARK KERMODE! With something as subjective as film, it's just weird. Seeing a dick for three seconds is coarse all of the sudden? That's the only thing I can think about that film that could be considered 'coarse'. For all he knows, he could have liked it.

I got a question for Stryker? Name some of the few comedies you really loved.

For some people seeing a penis for a few seconds is quite offensive. Also the whole Aldus Snow character is meant to be rude and crude.

You may really enjoy Extract if you're a fan of Office Space or King of the Hill. I think it's one of the most criminally underrated films of all time. It's a Mike Judge film and it's almost like Office Space except it kind of deals on the other end of the spectrum. Plus a lot of the characters in that movie remind me of people I know even if they are over-exaggerated satires.
Here is the trailer:

Loved The Burbs.
Meet the Parents didn't do anything for me. I watched it all, but it didn't make me laugh much. Meet the Fockers was largely the same, but the scenes that were essentially De Niro vs Hoffman were gold.
I'll definately give Zombieland a look next chance I get.
Couldn't stand Tropic Thunder. A bit like Anchorman and Dodgeball, it actually annoyed me rather than making me laugh.
Role Models looks good actually, I'll have to give that a look too. Not massively struck on Sean William Scott, but every person has at least one good film in them.
Away We Go looks worth invesitating as well, as does Extract.
With Forgetting Sarah Marshall I was told by someone who has pretty much identical taste in films to me (although we differ on a few, namely Back to the Future, Rocky and Indiana Jones) about the character Square mentioned and subsequently read write ups and plot summaries which pretty much confirmed I wouldn't like it.
Comedies I like? The Burbs has already been mentioned. Arthur Some Like it Hot Trains, Planes and Automobiles The original Pink Panther series In the Loop The Ladykillers (original) Waterboy Spies Like Us Airplane Spaceballs The Producers Blazin' Saddles Robin Hood Men in Tights Annie Hall Manhatten Anything Else The Garden State Benny and Joon
And loads and loads of others. I don't see why being selective of certain films makes me not a fan of comedy.

I very much like the look of that. ;D
I also wanted to state re: my website, that I don't do film reviews at all, because I'm aware I have a very different outlook than is required for that job.
I'm TV editor.

You know, it might help if you give everyone an indicator of what types of comedies you DO normally like. Ya know like sub genres, actors, styles, particular movies in the past, plots, moral base, family friendly levels, etc.

Well, on the OP's list, I actually liked Anchorman and Dodgeball. The rest, except for the Sacha Baron Cohen movies, I really don't have much interest in watching. I am open to watching Borat and Bruno, though. Also, I did like "Shawn of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz".

It's me who doesn't like the first 2 BTTF movies. The third one has a certain charm to me. He loves the first one and doesn't like the other two. Same with Indiana Jones actually, not a fan of the first 2, love Last Crusade. Didn't like Crystal Skull. He prefers the first two Indiana Jones.

Just about anything without Will Ferrell. Seriously, I f***ing hate his movies. I can't stand the majority of them. The bizarre thing is I find *him* very funny and I love him in Zoolander. It's just his films fall into formulaic, manic for the sake of it, dross.

You don't like course movies, but you enjoyed In the Loop? Was there any line in that movie that didn't end in f***?
I second Ed Wood, its excellent comedy without the modern gimmicks.
