Has anybody here flew with United Airlines before? I have just done reading horror stories about it. Can anyboy tell me their experience with them. I am flying from Australia to America for a long flight. I am about to facepalm myself....

I hear that they break guitars.
Seriously, though, I've flown with United many times. I've never had a real complaint--they seem fairly average. As far as American airlines go, based on my experience, from best to worst:
1) Southwest 2) Alaska 3) Pretty much everyone else (including United) 4) US Airways 5) Skipping the plane and just walking to your destination 6) Cancelling your trip 7) Continental

I've only flown United once. I wasn't happy. Shuttled us to some tiny corner of the airport, ran late. They had over booked the plane and were asking people to voluntarily move to a different flight in the morning. If no one volunteered, they were going to select passengers at random.
I prefer Delta over them, and I strongly dislike Delta.
