How long is alcohol once it's been open? It's been sitting in a closest for about 8 years.

Yeah, it's been covered. It's a variety of stuff, but no beer.

then it has a pretty long shelf life unless it's wine. Wine will turn to vinegar once opened if it is not consumed with a reasonable time.

If it's whiskey it matures and becomes stronger I had a bottle of JD I left for years in a cupboard and when I finally did drink it I only needed 2 glasses and I was drunk hahaha.

According to everything regarding mixology I've read (and that's plenty, given I worked in a bar for three years including a year as a manager, where continuing education regarding beer, wine, and spirits was required), spirits do not actually become stronger when left to sit for years in a closed bottle. The flavors, much like a good wine, will mellow, certainly, but the alcohol content is unaffected.
Of course, your mileage will vary, but generally speaking, chemistry doesn't change.
