See what I think they should do is have Michael Scott remain in the branch but we never ever see him. He's referred to people, he makes decisions and stuff but we just never see him. Yeah that's stupid.

They should give him the ER exit and have a helicopter fall on him.

I love The Office, but continuing the show is a bad idea. In the history of sitcoms, does anyone ever speak fondly of a show after the main character left? Happy Days, Spin City, That 70's Show, etc. Once the main character leaves, you should end the show on a high note. It's just not the same show without them.

Yeah that's stupid. That's basically what they did after Eric Forman left in That '70s Show. You would see and hear Donna or Kitty talking to Eric on the phone, but you'd never see or hear Eric.

Yeah but he actually left the country at least. This one would be like he's still there just never see him.

In Spin City's case, it wasn't the same, but the show held its own without Michael J. I was more into the dynamic of Alan Ruck and Michael Boatman, anyway. *shrug*

He's leaving before the season ends? It's Steve leaving Married with Children all over again. Ted McGinley put your pants on, you're back in service.
I am glad that they apparantly are not giving a send off with Michael and Holly together.

I'm not too worried about the shows quality dropping when he leaves, they have a lot of strong characters to keep the show going.

Has the show been any good this season? I watched the first 2 or 3 episodes and decided it was really getting lame, and haven't bothered to check it out again. It jumped the shark a few seasons back IMO.
As for Michael leaving, I hope it's not some sort of swerve and he gets together with Holly, Michael shouldn't have a happy ending IMO.

Like if season 7 ends with the company apparently still looking for Michael's replacement. Then the cold opening for the first episode of season 8 is Ted McGinley in Michael's old office bossing Dwight around, only to reveal that he is just a friend of Jim that Jim got to mess with Dwight.

I think the Office is going to fade out because very few shows survive seven seasons, not because Michael Scott is gone. I mean, look at Scrubs Med School. There was nothing wrong with the actors, or the scripts, or the set, and I can forgive the whole mutilation of the series concept. The problem came from, running out of ideas. You can only make so many jokes about young doctors trying to find themselves before you run out of ways to make it seem fresh.

Dwight's been the star of the show for years anyway. As much as I dig Steve Carrell, I've started to get almost annoyed when episodes are really Michael-centric. Maybe taking him out of the equation will help freshen up the show and see who steps up in his place as the big dog.
