Top 20 Series Presents: Gimmick Matches (Results)

*EDIT* To clarify, I'm asking for specific individual matches. Not just match types.

Welcome back everyone! After last week's successful turn out for the Wrestlemania lists, we're back this week to give this another go. I won't be getting to it right away, but if you sent in a list last week you'll be receiving a mass PM later today alerting you that this thread is up. You'll get them every week or two weeks when a new voting thread is up. If you don't wish to receive them just reply to the message when you get it and I'll remove you from this list.

As for this week, in honor or One Night Stand/Extreme Rules we'll be looking back at the top gimmick matches in WWE history. For the exact definition of gimmick matches, I mean anything from a street fight to Hell in a Cell to Tables Matches to Elimination Chamber. If you have a question as to whether a match can be included, feel free to ask and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Participation is simple, and this is all you have to do: Compile a list of your 10 favorite gimmick matches in WWE history and PM them to me. Make sure you send them in order from favorite onward, because where you rank them determines the number of points they receive. The #1 match on your list will receive 10, #2 will get 9, so on and so forth. Voting will remain open until Saturday night at midnight, and Sunday the results thread will be posted and the lists will be counted down.

There is one change. Unlike the lists I did years ago, I'm only accepting WWE matches. Not WCW or ECW as well. So keep your submissions to WWE only please.

So just to repeat, send me your top 10 gimmick matches from WWE history in order, and we'll see how this turns out.

Received one question, so I'll answer it here as well. I'm not including Royal Rumble matches in this, just because I'll be doing a RR countdown at some point as well. So no Rumble matches.

Specific. HHH vs. HBK HIAC or Shawn/Taker HIAC. Stuff like that.

Quick question - Does No DQ count as a gimmick?

Yes. Goes in line with Street Fights and No Holds Barred.

Random battle royals, sure. Royal Rumble, no. Saving those for a separate list.

This is by far the toughest list yet for me. I listed out 25 matches pretty quickly for consideration. I don't know how I am going to narrow it down to ten and order them. It may take some time.

Got 34 matches listed down. A few are more personal favourites than great gimmick matches so they're likely to get cut and I'll see what I end up with. Only one TV match came to mind though.

Unless I end up being reminded of something later, assume everything is eligible aside from straight wrestling matches and Royal Rumbles.

BTW, after the announcement on Raw it probably won't be a surprise who will be the star of next week's list. This will be a Top 30, so come strong.

I'm not sold on including Survivor Series elimination matches. They would be better suited to their own list.

I still haven't been able to narrow it down to just 10 matches. I'm afraid I'll never be able to send my list

These lists could be very different depending on personal taste. I personally prefer one-on-one matches to multi-men matches with lots of spots and stunts. Therefore, all of my list includes one-on-one gimmick matches. This was BY FAR the hardest list ever for me.

These matches (sadly) didn't make the cut (though things could change)
-Who is the Last Outlaw?
-He is Broken In Half!
-Tables, Ladders, and Chairs, OH MY!
-Unsanctioned Match from 2008 Feud of the Year
-Ladder Match from 2008 Feud of the Year
-Foley's (not so) Last Stand
-Sudden Death Over Time!

Got my list sent in, very tough. Like Crappler, the vast majority of mine are one on one matches. It's gonna be very interesting to see the final list.

this was a tough list to not only compile my favorite 10 gimmick matches....but then putting them in order of which I liked the most

Just sent my list in. Three matches from 2002, two from 2001, two from 2008 and one each from 2000, 2004 and 2006. Edge appears four times. Cactus Jack, Triple H, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker all appear twice.
