Not that I think it really did anything to influence them at this point and time, but good for them.

I can't wait for the Alan Moore run of Archie!
Good riddance to that idiotic code anyways.

Honestly, judging from Blackest Night, I didn't think DC still used it.

Can't wait for Archie Forensic Files, dealing with the most gruesome murders in Riverdale.

I didn't know what the Comics Code was and had to google it.
Wow, it sounds like kinda stupid and needlessly picky. I especially love this rule.
"No comic magazine shall use the word horror or terror in its title"
Erm. . .why? What the heck is wrong with horro and terror? :/

I dunno, the 50s were funny times.

What the heck is wrong with horro and terror? :/ Because in the 1950s a guy by the name of Dr. Fredric Wertham published a book called Seduction of the Innocent, that blamed comic books for being the sole inventor and advocate of every form of juvenile delinquency known to man. And though, according to Wertham, Batman was promoting male homosexuality and Wonder Woman was an advocate of lesbianism, the worst crimes being perpetrated by comics was by the EC line of Horror and Crime comics, which were the single cause of every crime commited by minors of the day.

I'm terrified at what atrocities Geoff Johns will have in his books now that he isn't hindered by the CCA.

And seeing how pretty much EVERY series EC had when the code was made/put into effect violated at least a handful of the code's laws, they couldn't get their stuff approved, and basically, thanks to this dick, an ENTIRE PUBLISHER was killed, as the Comics Code more or less killed EC.

I'm terrified at what atrocities Geoff Johns will have in his books now that he isn't hindered by the CCA. If the last couple of months was him hindered, I think the kind of stories that could occur would make Miller's Batman books look like DC Superfriends.

A common misconception about Wertham - he just wanted some kind of rating system for comics and was actually opposed to what the code wound up being.

I can't believe they've held onto it this long.
It's been irrelevant for decades. Yeah I know Marvel didn't do it till '01 either, but still; that arbitrary buncha censorship ( which was only put in place because EC was making so much money, and the others wanted to drive Gaines outta business.. and did) has been a relic since about 1960.

FWIW, the comics code DID save superhero comics. Crime and Horror comics were outselling superhero comics in the 50s, due to the soldiers coming back from war wanting something more "adult". Once those genres got muzzles put on them, the companies had to go back to the formula of superheroes again. And so we got the silver age.
