Not saying that this will happen but...how many chairs did Cena pull on top of Barrett at TLC?
Lets just say that Punk continues to attack Cena with a chair week after week until he reaches the same number Barrett took at TLC. Punk is currently on 4 chair shots. No explanation from Punk happens until the number is reached.
Which gives WWE enough time to think of a good reason why Punk is feuding with Cena in the first place.

I think the impression is that Punk is tired of kids having this supposed role model who beats the crap out of people with no mercy (even though he got retribution on the Nexus, im using heel's logic), rather than a role model who is drug free, alcohol free and better than them.
Not to mention Punk was just left for dead by Cena in the first Nexus attack, and he also came in for a second shot at them, which he can spin as trying to save Cena. It would be a pretty smart piece of contnuity on the WWE's part to do this as a follow up to the Nexus angle.

Because John Cena is a flawed role model who never keeps his word on any of his promises, like being a Nexus member or being "fired." CM Punk believes that he is the one that kids should be looking up to. Because he promotes all the right things, like drug free and honesty.
Of course CM Punk will be spot on, but what is that worth? Once Cena catches that knee from the GTS and locks him in the STF and Punk taps in under 3 seconds while Cena sandbags everything and starts cracking gay jokes the next night, any credibility that CM Punk gained will be thrown out the door. He should have just stayed behind the table.. he's too good for this.

I don't think you have to worry about Punk's credibility, the guy is just like Chris Jericho in that no matter how many times he's been beaten he can still reclaim his heat with the snap of his fingers. Want proof? Here he is about to face off against Cena and yet this is after his horrible feuds with Big Show and Rey Mysterio. I'm just going to enjoy the ride, Punk's promos should be awesome.

I just hope Punk goes over clean maybe once. Sigh. I'm not looking forward to this at all.

I get what you mean, honestly but getting some heel heat during a promo doesn't make the crowd take you any more seriously. Sure Punk is booked against Cena NOW but that doesn't mean the crowd think he's capable of beating him.

I only have one problem with the whole "Punk thinks he should be the hero and not booed" theory. It's that Punk was getting very sizable face pops in recent weeks.

On a previous thread, I talked about how it could work if Punk hated Cena for bringing back Daniel Bryan at Summerslam. I don't know what problem CM Punk would have with Bryan (if any at all), but other than the "I should be your hero, not Cena" twist, this is the only thing that makes sense to me.

If this all sets up a double turn with Cena becoming heel and a Punk face turn as an anti hero, ending promos with "Im drug free, alcohol free" and the crowd chanting "BETTER THAN YOU" I will mark.

True but that ain't coming from the kids, mostly from the internet fanbase. and didn't Cena already bury Punk in like 5 minutes the last time they fought?

Cena losing every once in a while would make the crowd support him THAT much more. Look at Jeff Hardy in 2008. Just imagine the Cena/Nexus angle if it was booked like that. Instead Cena got the best of them every single time because WWE were too pussy to take a risk. This Punk feud doesn't interest me in the slightest, I've seen it all before.

HHH's feud with Hardy teased the crowd perfectly, because they kept you on the edge of your seat thinking when would Jeff actually do it, and then his title win at Armageddon got a monster pop as a result, because it represented Jeff finally ascending to the top of the mountain.

I am new to this forum and I was recommended by a friend who is a wrestling fan as well.
My opinion on what will happen with Cena/Punk is complete conjecture. However, I just hope it ends in a way that turns Cena heel as his character has been stale for a long, long time.

Here is the feud, CM Punk won't take anymore of John Cena's 4th grader shenanigans, he's gonna teach him a lesson. Gay jokes aren't funny, hurting people with 25 chairs or AA'ING someone through the stage (This should come up at some point) isn't funny, and fat jokes aren't funny. CMpunk wants to give a disciplinary lesson to Cena.
That's my theory.

Has it ever happened before where both wrestlers in a feud turned right in the middle of it? Like the face becomes a heel and vice versa. Something like that would make a lot of sense for this feud.
