As has been stated, they already made two too many. Definitely no need for anything more.
One great film was all it shoulda been.

Further sequels to The Matrix seem a little unnecessary. Of course, this is a great demonstration of why I - as a film lover - tend to feel frustration with the mainstream movie-going audience. They don't want original, fresh and innovative films (which is why Scott Pilgrim didn't make as much money as it should have); they just want name recognition, brand recognition and the guarantee that they will get their monies worth. Fighting robots? Sure - make three of those movies. Kissing vampires? Sure - make five of those. An innovative, creative and game changing movie that was the film of last year? No way - we (the mainstream audience) don't care for that stupid indie-"hipster" flick with that kid that everyone hates but nobody really has an argument for why they hate him. Sorry, my first post and I already devolved into a digression. On topic; The Matrix had one solid film and two disappointing sequels - please, the cash cow has been drained, let it die. Eh, I'd argue even if you want something different you want your money's worth; and while I enjoyed Scott Pilgrim, I certainly don't feel it was some massive 'game-changing' film. It was a fun little movie based on a comic with a buncha fun homages to video game culture, and a live action anime of sorts; but I wouldn't herald it as some new classic. If anything the first Matrix flick was far more innovative. I get your point about endless sequels though.

Yeah, The End of the Matrix was pretty much "Neo becomes death, but death could not hold him," and his followers await the second coming, if you go with religious symbolism, or "Since Smith and Neo were opposites, Smith absorbing Neo destablized Smith, and destroyed him" if you go with the Computer Science. Then the little Indian Girl Sim found the Oracle, and War ended in cease fire. It wasn't quite "Harry Potter the Deathly Hallows", but in all fairness, total victory for the humans wouldn't have quite worked as a storyline. The Matrix should have been a film series, not a trilogy.
