I'd love for them to rename Football to Handegg, just to see how people would react.

Call it whatever you want, as long as the people upstairs yelling about it keep the noise down.

I came to the conclusion that Sam Elliot should narrate the back-story to sporting events more often.

I'd love for them to rename Football to Handegg, just to see how people would react. The NHL initials are already taken.

I came to the conclusion that Sam Elliot should narrate the back-story to sporting events more often. I'd support that. Also approve of the Emmitt image.

Ya know, I really can't grasp how American (and Canadian) Football ended up with the name football when the sport grew out of rugby

I don't care what anyone says an American football isn't egg shaped... it has points!
eggs aren't pointy!
eggs are rounded on at least one side!

It's called football cause it originates from the origins of football just like Rugby Union comes from Football.
I really don't see how i should recall the Origins of football if your a fan of any code of Football be it Gridiron, Soccer, Rugby Union (League steams from Union), or Australian Football you should already know to be fair.
If anything the Australian Rules is more like the Original then the others.

If anything the Australian Rules is more like the Original then the others. Well, I knew how proper football grew into rugby as people wanted a more violent and aggressive way to to compete with rival towns, and that the game was often just an excuse to punch someone in the face. And when it came to America, from a Canadian University I believe, they slowly started altering the rules to make it less dangerous and more acceptable for University play, until it became much more like the American Football we know today. I just was unsure of the reasoning behind the choice of name, as it would've made sense to alter it as when the game evolved from a primarily kicking game to a passing/running game
