I've been on somewhat of a GTA kick lately, well at least with me doing a playthrough of Vice City in which I am trying to achieve 100 percent completion. However, out of all that I have listed, the only ones that I haven't played are the GBA one and Chinatown Wars. I guess you could say the same for the very first, but I basically TESTED out the first GTA, as well as 2, but never played London. I bought the classics collection back in 2004, but eventually sold the collection, but I have been considering rebuying the very first GTA games, even though it is a little hard to get used to the top down perspective and the controls.
I do remember the first time I played GTA III and I was hooked on it. It became like a drug to me because I didn't have a PS2 then and I tried to play it every chance I got before finally getting a PS2 and the game itself. However, out of the ones that I liked the most, I'll go with Vice City, San Andreas, and The Ballad of Gay Tony. I am counting the GTA IV expansions as separate as they had features of their own on either game. I did like Vice City Stories, even though it was a little glitchy, at least the PS2 version is. My least favorite is Liberty City Stories. I don't dislike the game, but it felt to much like GTA III revisted in a sense and I don't mean the fact that it was in the same city, but rather the fact that you couldn't swim, you had other stuff that were still a little similar. At least in VCS, the swimming feature returned, but you couldn't go underwater.
What is/are your favorite(s)?

San Andreas is pretty much the perfect GTA game IMO. Vice City had a slightly better soundtrack, but SA was better in every other aspect.

4 for me. I did like Vice City a lot, but actually not so much San Andreas.

San Andreas, because you could fly planes, parachute, and go all over a huge map, plus it had a great soundtrack.

San Andreas.
In fact, it's my favorite video game of all time.

Saints Row 2.
Seriously, though... San Andreas.
I've probably logged more hours into GTA2, though. I loved the hell out of that game. It's a shame it gets hated on largely because people started with 3.

Toss up between San Andreas and GTA IV. I own San Andreas and have only rented IV, but from the short time I had it it seemed like a great game. But I think I like San Andreas just that much more.

San Andreas, it's always great and stupid fun to skydive without activating your chute, and there's so much area to romp around.

For those mentioning San Andreas, you can get it for last I checked (though it was at a discount) 600 points on X-Box Live at the moment.

Vice City. I love that damn radio. Vice City is my all-time favorite. I could also spend hours just driving around and listening to the music. I so badly want GTA 5 to be back in the 80s and in Vice City.

San Andreas remains the only game I have ever pre-ordered and also the only game I have ever got the very first day it was out. (Even though I got the PS2 versions of LCS and VCS I do not count those since they had been out for PSP for a while) I had classes that morning and all I thought about all day was getting that game and getting home. Once I got home I played it way too long. I once stayed up until 1 a.m. playing it and I had a pre-cal class the next morning. Even now when I play GTA I will usually pull out San Andreas. That being said I would say my favorite GTA game ever was Vice City. One thing I never liked about San Andreas was the fact it dragged in the middle. {Spoiler}The start in Los Santos was good, once Sweet went to jail though it seemed the game went downhill. Don't get me wrong it was not bad it just could have been a lot better. It started picking up after Venturas Vice City on the other hand the plot was was good and it was solid all the way through. Also Vice City had a lot of my favorite GTA missions. Plus the soundtrack was brilliant.

San Andreas
Fun story, good characters, huge map, nice selection of vehicles and I liked the fact the character was fully customisable with haircuts, muscles, tatoos etc.
The series has seemed to have slowly gone downhill from there with the horrible GTA 5.

I assume you meant 4. Anyway I remember when all the hype was for GTA:IV and how it was getting perfect ratings from various websites. When I finally got it I was honestly dissapointed. It was lacking a lot of the fun factor that made GTA what it was. I did though enjoy the Ballad of Gay Tony and if the next GTA is like that then I will be very happy.
