Assuming you were a singer or in a band, and you wrote 1 song that hit big, but nothing else was a hit, or at least not as big as that 1 song, would you resent being labeled a "1-hit wonder", or would you embrace the fact that at least one song you wrote/performed resonated with the public for a time?

Absolutely. Particularly if I was smart with my money.

If I wanted to be a successful and respected artist then I'd probably be disappointed.
I'm not though, so yeah it'd be great fun.

You would take the good with the bad. The upside is 'Royalties' because once a song becomes a hit chances are you will continue to make money from it until you die. From radio play, being used in TV, commercials or Movies, plus people will just continue to buy if it's for sale. Plus you will always get a gig, OK it will be probably to be just a small venue or club, but works work eh

If I could build up a decent cult following for myself, I'd be perfectly fine with it. I doubt I'd keep trying to replicate the sound of that hit anyway, so I'd just consider it a trophy.

Being a one hit wonder does not necessarily mean not being successful.Case in point,I believe The Grateful Dead had a #1 song.Hell Rush has never had a #1 song and they are very popular.

As long as it was with one of my songs and not a cover, than I'd be okay with it. Obviously being a 1-hit wonder isn't something you strive for, but if it was with my own song I'd be cool with it.

Even if you only had one hit; that's more than millions of people get.
Ideally, I'd want something that would be catchy and recognizable enough that it'd be used in like every comedy/romantic comedy movie trailer; as that'd equal more royalties.

They probably would've had more had the band not gotten stupid and fired the singer, why do that at that moment?

Would depend on life after being a 1-hit wonder. Did I save my money and buy a nice house? Do I work a meh job where I have to be recognized all the time?

Hell yes! I'd rather be a one-hit wonder than a no-hit wonder.

Depends, I guess. I mean, to be honest, it depends on how you define "one hit wonder". I mean, technically, by the literal meaning of the word, Jimi Hendrix was a one hit wonder, but one of the most influential guitarists ever. If I was a one hit wonder in that vein, then sure, why not? But if it was a one hit wonder in the vein of....I dunno, Falco, probably not.
