Yeah, should go in the Nintendo thread but I kind of thought it'd be better in its own separate thread just so people can give me a hand here.
So let's start from the top, I've seen the 3DS a few times now, going to see it again this coming Tuesday, and now I want one. So I've put a pre-order in at GAME and, with my trading in of my PSP and using some of that to get Pokemon Black, it'll cost me £140. Good? Definatly. Ideal? Well...
My target has been trying to reduce it to under £100 somehow, trying to find a way to at least push it down and looking through my collection, I don't have much way of doing that. And then it came to me...trade in my DSi.
I know it's in good condition so I won't have much of a problem shrinking the price big time because of it but the thing is, this DSi's been with me since I got it at its launch (Blue DSi...going with my White DSi...which I also got at launch....yes, I'm sad ) so it'll kind of like departing from an old friend.
If I do trade in the 3DS now, I won't be able to take advantage of converting my DSi store 'purchases' to the 3DS. As bad as that might have seemed, it's only Mario Clock and the Mario and Donkey Kong game so it's not a huge deal, it's more about what to have on the thing at launch.
The other piece of the puzzle is more about how much I'd be able to get used to it. I tried to use a DSi XL (at launch...again...sad) as a review console for MultiMediaMouth but ended up sticking to the blue DSi and I'm concerned if I trade it in, I might miss it as strange as that might seem. I mean, I can still play my old DS games on it so that's not an issue.
The good thing is that there is no real loss on this. I 'payed' £20 deposit (for both colours...they convinced me! ) and have £60 on a giftcard to be used on the day of purchase, both counting towards the purchase. If I trade it in, it'll be MUCH less than the price mentioned and I'll get a 3DS. If I don't trade it in and cancel the preorder, I'll have £80 to spend at GAME, which is pretty much 2 games and I'll have a choice from a lot of stuff I want (Kirby Epic Yarn, DK Returns, Capcom vs. Marvel 3 etc) so both sides I basically get something I want.
So to the community I seemingly turn to for weird ass situations like this, what should I do? Go ahead with the trade in and replace one blue thing with a blue-ish thing or cancel it, purchase some games and wait until the price drops...which it may or may not do since I doubt they'll be a 3DS II unless there's HUGE hardware issues i.e. DS Phat?
I LEAVE IT UP TO YOU ALL!!!
