I admit, I'm a RPG geek, but the ultimate wost I've played/owned has to have been a Dragon Ball Z one. There was really no cap on damage, etc, to make it more like the show.... so at higher levels, you can literally throw a kamehameha blast for like, 20,000 d6 damage. The rule books said "we suggest in cases like this, roll 20d6 and multiply it by 1,000".

It wasn't exactly an RPG, but the tabletop game "FRAG" often left a weird taste in my mouth. It wasn't terrible, but it just kept me wondering "Why don't we all just play an actual FPS?"

FATAL.
Okay, I've had a flick through the rule books but not played the actual game. Still, I've never encountered something so bad in my life.

I can't count how many Big Eyes Small Mouth campaigns we screwed up due to arguing over the rules or the fact one of us seemed to play off kilter.
Sad because the game is really good.

FATAL. Okay, I've had a flick through the rule books but not played the actual game. Still, I've never encountered something so bad in my life. I see your FATAL and raise you Racial Holy War ......a game where not only is the Flavor horrible.....the mechanics are so flawwed that none of your PCs can Actually HIT anything (No I've never played it......but I did know a guy that had it and FATAL in his collection.....they were conversation pieces and as he stated bluntly NOT to ever be played for sanity's sake)

Once upon a time, I was so obsessed with super heroes, specifically Marvel, that I'd jump to buy any rpg that included them. Thus, I came upon "Marvel Universe Role Playing Game." I'd LOVED the classic Marvel RPG from the 80's (I have an Unearthly strength!!!) and I didn't think the card game was completely stupid, so I thought I'd give this one a go.
It was played via "stones." Each character had so many "stones" to distribute to their actions...for example: If I put 3 stones in Spider-man's 5 Dex, and Venom only puts 2 stones in is 4 Dex, Spider-man will hit Venom. This was stupid enough, but add on top of that one of the first lines in the book was "nothing in the Marvel universe happens by sheer chance, everything happens for a reason." You guys have no clue how many times I've read a character such as Spider-man, Captain America, or Thunderstrike commenting how lucky or unlucky they were in whatever given situation they were in. It's like the book was trying to be Obi-Wan to my Han Solo or something ("In my experience, there's no such thing as luck!!!") Just stupid over all.
I know this isn't the most contraversial game or anything like that, but after having played so many AWESOME super hero rpgs (old school DC is still my favorite Super Hero rpg by far!), this game was just an uber disappointment, and a let down for my favorite comic book universe.

Has anyone heard of Corporation? I saw a copy of the players/GM guidebook for it in a discount bin and bought it. It is a game about the future where the major corporations of the world started buying up their own third world dictators until they had enough influence to basically control developed countries as well. At that point, industrial espionage and competition broke down into open war between companies. In order to curb the violence, a new unified world government came into being. They put a stop to the open hostilities, but there were still 6 major corporations that openly control most of the world on a day to day basis. Your character is essentially an agent for a corporation (the party or the GM choses which one). An agent is essentially a deputized James Bond-type of special agent. You may or may not have cyborg improvements in place. The different corporations also grant special benefits. One has improve psychic training (which most agents do not have at all). One grants the best cyborg enhancements. One grant the best weapons (though you have to pay for it by being an endorsed celebrity, completely ruining your ability to ever go undercover).
I think it would be very interesting, but I have not found anyone to play it with. For all I know, after playing it for a while it could be broken, but I have no real way of knowing.

I've heard a lot of horror stories about FATAL. I read through something similar, called The Book of Erotic Fantasy, at a Borders. I felt immensely sad after doing so.

Sounds like a Shadowrun knock off. Never ran Shadowrun, to be honest. Those friends of mine that had tried it were not overly impressed, but then again we all were reluctant to even try D&D 3.0 because we had already gotten accustomed to 2.5, so maybe it was awesome and they were a bit biased.

Sometimes I think I'm the only one who thought 3.0/3.5 edition was great, while 4th edition sucks. I liked 2nd edition back in the day though...but prefer 3rd.

Pathfinder products are big sellers now, which are simply a published version of the open license that WotC made available for free. They are essentially 3.5 products that WotC allow another company to publish.

The fact that it took them that long to get rid of THAC0, and go with something that just made a hell of a lot more sense amazes me.

I've been reading up on FATAL, and I gotta say, I'm f***ing FASCINATED by it, in the same way I'm fascinated by a car crash. It just sounds too awful to be real.
