isn't Matt Flynn supposed to be a free agent this year? Free Agent next year i was just wondering since there are quite afew teams looking for a good quality QB and after nearly beating New England last season AS A BACKUP NO LESS, it'd be a total shock if those teams weren't trying to break down his front door.

Anybody got any mock drafts? I haven't followed the draft class so much this year, but I'm trying to learn who they are and I'm putting together a 1st round mock.

Mel Kiper's probably on his 50th now. None of them will be correct, but since that's all he ever does for ESPN, he sure as hell milks it.

www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/1813/philip-riversYahoo's Michael Silver reports enough progress was made Thursday that the NFL and the NFL Players Association "will almost certainly be headed for a settlement" if they can agree to a one- or two-week extension in CBA talks by the end of the day Friday. If a deal is not reached, one source tells Silver "it will be Armageddon" with the union decertifying and filing a class-action, anti-trust suit against the owners. Commissioner Roger Goodell and labor chief DeMaurice Smith have emerged as voices of reason while factions from each side maintain a radical stance. The owners seem to have adopted a more conciliatory tone since Judge Doty's decision that TV money won't be available during a lockout. Owners are no longer insisting on $2 billion off the top, but will receive more than $1 billion in addition to an 18-game season and a rookie wage scale. I don't know about you guys, but I really like the idea of a rookie wage scale, especially if it means training camp holdouts become the exception, not the rule. An 18-game season I think is a bit much. I know it means they're probably dropping two of the preseason games, but I think the season is long enough.

Alright I've been working on learning who these guys are, so it's not perfect (and not complete), but here are my top 10 picks for the Draft. Let me know what you think! 1. Carolina Panthers Select Cam Newton, QB AuburnI believe that the Panthers will take a Quarterback with this pick, in hopes of getting their franchise guy. You could make the argument that Newton is not the general consensus most pro ready Quarterback, but considering that Jimmy Clausen was called such I don't put too much stock into that. I think that there are better Quarterbacks than Newton, but this is the guy that the Panthers try to build their team around. 2. Denver Broncos Select Marcell Dareus, DE AlabamaWith us getting Elvis back next season, we couldn't be in a better position to draft another big Defensive line guy to help with the pass rush. Dareus is a big boy, and has no problem collapsing the pocket to get to the QB. Plug Dareus into our Defensive line and all of a sudden we have a pass rush, something we severely lacked last season. 3. Buffalo Bills Select Jake Locker, QB WashingtonThis is a bit of a weird pick, because I believe this pick could be either Locker, Mallett, Ponder, or Gabbert. However from what I've seen Locker really impresses me, and I think he could be the most attractive choice for the Bills at this pick. I don't think anybody believes that Ryan Fitzpatrick is the future in Buffalo, so with a pick this high the Bills grab Locker and hope he is the guy. 4. Cincinnatti Bengals Select Da'Quan Bowers, DE ClemsonI think if Carson Palmer stays, the Bengals focus on the defensive side of the ball and grab Bowers. DE is a big need for the Bengals, so they get one of the most talented in the group here. 5. Arizona Cardinals Select Patrick Peterson, CB LSUI think that if everybody else passes on Peterson, the Cardinals can't pass him up here. Even though they need a QB I don't think the risk #5 overall on one, so they turn and get the versatile Peterson to help their defense. 6. Cleveland Browns Select AJ Green, WR GeorgiaColt McCoy appears to be Cleveland's guy, so I think that the Browns have to get him a realistic threat to throw to. Green is a very talented wideout, who'll give the Browns offense some explosiveness. 7. San Francisco 49ers Select Blaine Gabbert QB, ArkansasWith a new coach in Jim Harbaugh I believe he'll want his own QB moving forward, and with Newton and Locker off the board, he's able to draft Gabbert as his potential "guy". Gabbert does come with question marks, but every QB in the draft is a risk, but if Harbaugh really wants his potential franchise guy the pick has to be Gabbert. 8. Tennessee Titans Select Nick Fairley, DT AuburnThe Titans need a QB, but again some are off the board by this point, or not worth taking the chance on. So the Titans go defense with the 8th overall, and get Nick Fairley. Fairley is a questionable pick, but the Titans need all they can get and they get this big dude right here. 9. Dallas Cowboys Select Prince Amukamara, CB NebraskaThe Cowboys' have a lot of holes, but they could use secondary help like no other, so they grab the 2nd best CB left in the draft with Amukamara. If not Prince they could go DE with Robert Quinn, but I think Secondary becomes priority on draft day for Jerry Jones. 10. Washington Redskins Select Mark Ingram, RB AlabamaA RB at #10 for a team that needs a QB and defensive help? Why? Because with Clinton Portis gone the Redskins suddenly find themselves in need of a rushing game. Shanny could go and get Ryan Mallett right here, but I think that Ingram falls to him at 10, and with their sudden need of a Running Back the Redskins can't pass on him.

The Charlotte Observer's Darin Gantt predicts that Auburn QB Cam Newton will be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.
"I think they were so set on Andrew Luck coming out, they're not going to wait," explains Gantt. "They need a quarterback." Gantt is the most clued-in Panthers beat writer in the country, so it would be difficult to not trust him. He also believes coach Ron Rivera "is going (to Auburn's Pro Day) for a reason," and that's to meet with the Panthers' next franchise quarterback.
I say do it. The guy is freaky talented, and we are going to be in the s***ter for a long time without a QB. Clausen f***ing sucks, and outside of him, we have no one there.
Sure D-line help is great, but, unless your the 2000 Ravens defense, you have to have a QB in this game to do something.
Bring Cam Newton to Carolina!
I'm in!

I don't think the Panters are going to draft Newton. Clausen bit them in the butt. They're not going to take a risk on another huge signing bonus. I think it's a golden opportunity for the Bengals to trade Carson Palmer, since he's hell bent on not playing in Cincinnati this year.

We actually didn't spend too much on clausen contract wise if I remember correctly...

I really do hope the Panthers take Newton so the Bengals aren't tempted to. I trust nothing about that kid translating to the next level.

espn.go.com/espn/page2/index?id=6189460Funny little story about what Chad Ochocinco (or is it Johnson now?) has planned just in case there is a lockout. I, for one, would pay to see this happen. ;D

I really do hope the Panthers take Newton so the Bengals aren't tempted to. I trust nothing about that kid translating to the next level. His only chance at success is to go somewhere with a good QB coach and who will sit him down and say "You're not starting for 2-3 years while we teach you how to play. When you learn our system, then you'll start." If he's thrown out there Sept. 10th or whatever as a starter, he's going to get chewed up and spit out. If he thinks he can just make one read and then try to run people over, then he's got another thing coming. I'm sure that will end when Ray Lewis or Urlacher plants him in the dirt or Harrison spears him with his helmet.

IF the Panthers go QB, it would probably be Blaine Gabbert. But until I hear otherwise, I'm convinced that Panthers will take either Da'Quan Bowers or Nick Fairly.
Newton is not even a lock for the top 10. Now there is a lot of time for him to change that, but I don't think he's a good fit for what Carolina wants to do
