Back when it started, guys never crossed shows except for special occasions, like pre Wrestlemania. Seeing guys from the different brands in one ring at a time, like at Royal Rumble, really felt unique. Nowdays, they will pull guys from either show when they need more talent for that show. At this point, another draft can no longer create any interest. For instance, it wouldn't matter if they draft someone like Kofi to Raw because he completes on Raw every other week. The current brand split only matters for the lower card guys because there is only enough room for them to compete on one show. Every week, it seems like they are trying to feature their main event guys on both shows as much as possible. Years ago, the rosters were so dynamic to where they didn't need to ever pull guys from either show.

They always relax it going up to any of the big 4 PPV's. Now they just do it for every 3 hour RAW they're doing more and more of. After the draft, they'll enforce it for a few months then go back to what it was.

They have always crossed shows. It's nothing new.

Brand Split seems to be strongest during the Spring. Then again we had Swagger vs Orton last April.
