Awwww... even if I don't like him at all, he's far too young to retire from his in-ring position

Seeing as how they already planted the seeds for his return on Raw, yeah, don't believe this. Although honestly I'd just as soon keep Punk as a commentator - love the guy in the ring, but he's so much more interesting to me as a snarky tweener on commentary than another boring serious heel.

I kind of agree. I think when he returns to the ring, I'd like to see him as a snarky babyface. Basically acting exactly as he does now on commentary, but as a wrestler. I definitely don't want to see "I'm addicted to competition and never get promo time" babyface CM Punk, though.

Can't see it being full time. Although he is great in the role, if he was not going back to the ring, he wouldn't be able to put him self over and the talent down so much - which is the charm of his role. He is too good a talent to keep away from the ring, I just hope he gets the push deserved.

I wouldn't mind them keeping him at the announcer's table, as I tend to prefer 3-man commentary teams to 2-man ones.

It's definitely something that he could do once he retires from the ring..but he's far too young and has way too much to offer as an in ring performer to consider retiring already.
He still hasn't captured the WWE Championship and there is no way he's going to finish without getting his hands on that.

My guess is he will entered in the rumble match, which he will be commentating until his music hits.

He's too good in the ring to just stop because of commentary. I mean I love Punk's commentary but it isn't THAT good to stop wrestling altogether.

I see a Randy Savage situation here, where Punk will commentate on Raw, but still have matches once in a while on tv and ppvs. I also don't see how Punk can be a full blown heel in his return unless he goes against Orton or Cena, and against both especially Cena I am betting the crowd will be pretty split.

When he is done as a wrestler he'll do it. But as some one said, they just planted seeds on Monday for his return to action feud. This seems like speculation based on Punk being overly popular on the web.

Commentary through the match, then his music hits, he enters the match, gets quickly eliminated, and then goes back to commentating as if nothing ever happened. Punk doing that would be gold.

I say Punk should do this at #30 and win the Rumble and face the Miz at Wrestlemania dedicating his title match to all the color commentators out there who were screwed out of their WWE championships.

Yeah, Lawler did that during the 1997 Royal Rumble i'll agree if after he gets eliminated and returns to commentary he just refuses to mention the person who eliminated him at all for the rest of the night. even if they win it.

Punk doing that would be gold. Yeah, Lawler did that during the 1997 Royal Rumble His music plays, Jerry acts surprised, Vince can't believe it. Lawler removes his coat, starts bragging and tells Vince and JR, "Remember this, fellas, it takes a King..." Removes the head-set. Gets in the ring, Bret Hart punches him over the top rope. Lawler slinks back to the table, puts the head-set back on. "...to know a King." Lawler kept talking the rest of the Rumble about how if he was in there, he'd take care of some business. Vince and JR would have to keep "reminding him that "you were already in." Lawler would be all like "I was? When?" JR had the line of the night: "You're in Bushwacker Luke territory!", regarding his length of time rivaling the record-setting former Sheepherder.
