I just watched Superstars, and there was a new Play by Play guy with Striker this week. I think his name was Jack Korpela. His name is familiar but he didn't look familiar. Was he a referee or something? He looked really small, a lot smaller than Striker. Anyway does anyone know who he is?
I thought he was actually pretty good, and actually called the moves the correct names. I also really like the Punk/Scott Stanford team, they might be my favorite current WWE commentary team other than Josh and Cole.

He usually does the Countdown shows on PPV, he also used to do the WWE updates before Scott Stamford showed up

I believe he occasionally commentated Heat as well.

I remember him talking about the PPVs in the half hour specials that buildup to them, I think.

Never heard of the guy.
No offence to him but I sometimes wonder why folks keep him on the books.
If he only does things like present minor shows like PPV Previews, Afterburn etc it seems kinda pointless to have him since surely Todd Grisham or Josh Matthews can take care of them as well as commentating.

It confirms that Todd Grisham has been buried by Vince.
Play-by-play teams that would be the best:
RAW: Jim Ross, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler NXT: Josh Mathews, Michael Cole and CM Punk Superstars: Scott Stanford and CM Punk for RAW, Jack Korpela and Matt Striker for SmackDown SmackDown: Josh Mathews, Matt Striker and William Regal

Superstars: Scott Stanford and CM Punk for RAW, Jack Korpela and Matt Striker for SmackDown four people for a one hour show? way too many

Gotta admit though, despite my comments that the guys hiring is pretty pointless considering the amount of commentators and presenters the WWE had, I've just watched Superstars and he is really good!
Wouldn't mind if Todd got phased out in favour of this guy tbh.

Wouldn't mind if Todd got phased out in favour of this guy tbh. He's been in the WWE for years, so they didn't just hire him. Says here it's been four years: www.wwe.com/subscriptions/wweclassics/personalities/korpela/bio/They're just finally moving guys like him and Sanford onto shows that at least some people actually watch.

He wasn't too bad. My first impressions of him are a lot better than the Raw guy, who I still haven't entirely warmed up to.

He is very, very good, as presenting WWE Classics has clearly made his knowledge of wrestling very large, and teaming with the great Matt Striker can only be beneficial to him, as Striker seems intent on showing the guy the ropes. I dig it.
