Honestly, I had given up on them and this angle when they first announced Cena v Barrett with the "You win, we break up, I win, you're in our group" stipulation.
The Nexus had lost quite a bit of momentum after Sheffield's injury and Barrett's failure to win the title with his NXT prize shot, and that, combined with the results of the somewhat similar Mysterio v Straight-Edge Society feud earlier in the year, had me abandoning all hope, regardless of any new merch.
Then they actually went for the mother of all non-Russo swerves and actually had Cena lose, 1-2-3. Granted it was after mass interference, but I honestly expected Cena to fight out of THAT and still win.
Now Barrett has a one-on-one title shot against Orton, with Cena in his corner as his underling in a "thy will be done or ye job be gone" situation. There's new life in The Nexus again.
Regardless of how it ends, I'm glad that this angle has happened. This has done more for (most of) their careers than any individual call-up may have ever done.

Darren Young doesn't exactly seem to have gotten much out of being involved in the Nexus angle, and I'm not too hopeful about Tarver either. I do wonder if the non-Barrett members will end up more like La Familia's alumni than anything else once the storyline is finished.

We're talking about those who matter, and I believe that excludes Young. I think Tarver will still do well.

Barrett will definitely be a upper-midcarder to main eventer by the time this is over. Gabriel should also do well, as he is definitely second on the totem pole. Slater will be a good midcard hand, as he's more talented than anyone gives him credit (Bret could have worked with anyone in the Summerslam match, and they chose Slater to protect the stroke victim). Sheffield will get a monster heel push upon his return, regardless of whether he returns as a Nexus member or they are broken up by then. Nothing needs said about Daniel Bryan. Young and Tarver are likely headed for FCW or Future Endeavorville. Tarver especially, as Young has a slight chance of getting Percy Watson called up to round out the tag ranks. Otunga is the hardest one to place. Yeah, he is garbage in the ring and despite being well-spoken, has no real it-factor despite what NXT Season 1 tried to say. However, WWE loves anyone with even any shred of mainstream appeal, and Otunga did marry well enough to get them some. If he was put in a non-wrestling role sort of like Vickie Guerrero, he could be of some use. The problem with doing that is that Otunga is in great shape, so it would be hard to buy him as a non-wrestler.

I don't mind Otunga. Yes he can be better in the ring but it's not like he's the worst wrestler there ever was or ever will be in WWE.
Besides, he wears some badass looking trunks.

His trunks are way too small though, I'm pretty sure I saw some Otunga buttcheek at Hell in a Cell. You're welcome Gay Community?!??!?

I was wondering if someone would've pointed that out to him while I was watching Hell in a Cell. Yeesh. I rarely post in this section and all I have to say involve butt cheeks.

Sorry, Otunga isn't heartily endorsed by the GWO or The rest of the Gay Community. Sorry

Regardless of how it ends, I'm glad that this angle has happened. This has done more for (most of) their careers than any individual call-up may have ever done. I both agree and disagree with this statement. Barrett was pegged by just about everybody as a future main eventer from day one, and I think he'd have gotten there with or without Nexus. It may have taken him longer, but he'd still eventually make it. Justin Gabriel was another one pegged to be a solid midcarder, and again, I think he'd have made it that far with or without nexus. The rest? Yeah, they definitely benefitted from the angle. Skip may very well have been packaged as generic hoss #3569 -- built up, fed to a main eventer, then eventually depushed, forgotten about, and released. See Snitsky, Gene and Knox, Mike as recent examples. Now, I can see him being pushed as a long-term threat. Slater, Young, Otunga, and Tarver are on television solely due to the Nexus angle. I very seriously doubt they'd have even made it to the main roster at all if it weren't for that angle, and if I were them, I wouldn't be answering the phone once the angle is over. Young is already a prime candidate to be released in the next round of roster cuts, and if Tarver really is gone from Nexus, he's probably not too far behind.
