Okay... I have a huge obsession with Kebbin Sullivan's Army of Darkness gimmick in Florida in the 80s, where he raised monsters from under the sea, and corrupted guys to the dark side. I once tried to recreate it in a wrestling fan fiction, but although all the ideas are there in my head, I'm no kind of a writer, so I gave up very quickly.
Basically, the Texarkana Wrestling Alliance (TWA) had a huge, money wasting gimmick where they had a massive heel stable, feuding with a few face guys - it came down to a massive battle royale across two rings, where the eliminated guys were banished from the company. It finally came down to a few guys from either side, who then shook hands and ended the feud, and the match ended (important, as now guys thrown over the top didn't have their contracts torn up).
However, suddenly a bunch of guys, heel and face, turned on the others, beating them down. One of the lowest guys on the totem pole, Cowboy Gary Anderson, got on the mic, and declared that he was in league with dark powers, and that the other guys standing tall with him had pledged themselves to his darkness, in order to gain greater power. The stable was:
"Satan's Favorite Son" Gary Anderson - now working a satanic cowboy gimmick, the ringleader
Private Dennis Jones: Pierrot 2 - Originally working an army gimmick, he joined the group, but refused to become darker. However, when another member, Pierrot (a Mexican clown) was injured, he was gimmicked as having been killed, and his insane spirit possessed Jones, and transformed him into a twisted clown.
Kaimi - Worked a Kamala gimmick. Jones had attempted to civilize him, but now he was left to become even more savage than before.
The Nightmare Express - Previous a highflying prettyboy team called The Rocket Express, they underwent torture to scour their happy go lucky personalities from them. They wrestled in masks made to look like tragedy masks, but in mid match sometimes they would unmask, to reveal grotesque rictus grins.
The Odd Couple - A face team and a heel team were both beaten down initially, and dragged away to be reconditioned. However, a member of each time managed to escape, to become a face team called The Fugitives. The remaining members were reconditioned into Trash, who was kind of like an extreme version of Flock Kidman, covered in sores and shown in vignettes to be living in the garbage outside each arena, and Bedlam, who was totally, viciously insane, and came to the ring in a straightjacket with a cage on his head to protect... everyone. They teamed and worked singles.
Mike Storm - Previously a top face, he was violently tortured after signing up out of frustration at his inability to win any titles. Gary Anderson promised to make him the perfect wrestler, and he was transformed into a zombie-like figure, with no remorse or ability to feel pain.
Nine-to-Five - These were the famous team The Midnight Outlaws, who were captured a few weeks into the gimmick. They were known as hard drinking, hard fighting rebels, but they were reconditioned to, unknown to them, into a pair of uptight salarymen in facepaint and suits - this transformation happened when a certain music was heard, so they would be coming to the ring to their hard rock soundtrack, when this new music would start... they would freeze, return to the back, and come back out moments later in their new personas.
Kid - The exciting high flying heel H-Bomb joined, only for Gary Anderson and others to totally ignore him. He was stripped entirely of his gimmick, and repackaged in white sweats, barefoot, and a white t-shirt. He was then put in matches with each stable member, each time being cut up badly and then remaining in his bloodstained clothing. Finally, Anderson acknowledged him as a broken man, just calling him Kid, and hailing him as the 100% subjugated man, which he promised to do to all of the faces, and the crowd.
I think there were other guys, but I don't remember them.
Anyways, this is where it takes a weird turn. Last night, I dreamed that their gimmicks were real, and even more twisted than described above. Gary Anderson was giving an interview with the masked Nightmare Express, except they were wearing gimp masks with the mouths unzipped. He was saying that the team were nothing to anyone, and he only kept them around because it was told to him in a prophecy that they were important for his future. One of them tried to speak, and Anderson zipped up his mask. Then, the other one tried to join the interview, but Anderson demanded silence. The interview continued, with Anderson insulting the interviewers, and at one point throwing hot coffee in his own face when they were ignoring him to carry on with the show. Finally, the second Nightmare started to have blood pour out of his mouth, and the announcers went crazy, saying that he was chewing off his own tongue. Anderson zipped his mouth, and then tasted the blood, saying that it was a sign. Suddenly, Mike Storm left the ring in the middle of the squash tag match he was wrestling, followed by Pierrot, his partner. They crashed the announce area, and laid waste to it. Storm beat down both announcers, and then Pierrot killed one of the time keepers with a chokehold.
That's when I woke up.
