Yeah, saw this Tuesday, maybe it was because I was totally loved up, but I thought it has some very funny parts.
Bagels. I shall never look at them the same.

Not seen Hot Fuzz, but Shaun of the Dead was decent and Pegg was awesome in Star Trek. Still, though, this looks like a bad ripoff of an American Dad character I only like in small doses in the first place.

Paul seems nothing like the alien on American Dad.

Maybe I just expected too much but I didn't think Shaun was so great. I was expecting Reanimator, I felt more like I just watched Bride of Reanimator.
I actually liked Hot Fuzz better. I thought it was a more effective genre send-up. Plus I didn't have high expectations for it to live up to.

Paul seems nothing like the alien on American Dad. Thats because beside having a small attitude to start with, he isnt. At all.

Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead were better, but since those two are the zenith of comedy movies that's to be expected. It's a great comedy flick, Paul himself is well done as both an effect and a character and of course Simon Pegg and Nick Frost make it awesome.
Does require a base level of Sci-fi knowledge to get all the jokes though.

Just saw it. Overall, I give it a solid B+. I was expecting side-splitting laughter, but I got a few good laughs instead. It's still a quality movie. It didn't have to attack religion (Christianity) in the way it did, though. That was the only off-putting part of the movie for me.

I don't think it attacked Christianity, as much as it attacked hardcore religious zealots, that refuse to even fathom other theories.

It didn't have to attack religion (Christianity) in the way it did, though. That was the only off-putting part of the movie for me. Pretty much my thoughts on the film (though I laughed at a lot of the religious jokes, which is as far as I'm going in that discussion). It's not nearly as good as Shaun or Fuzz, but that was to be expected. It's zany fun that's easy to watch, made much better for sci-fi fans and "nerds". Thanks to these easter egg jokes, I think the film will be very rewatchable, for the sole fact of catching jokes you missed before. Once again, my favorite part of the movie, just like in Shaun, was the relationship between Simon and Nick. It shows that you can love somebody of the same sex and not be gay. You simply enjoy their presence and feel a connection with them that doesn't tread into physicality. I think a film following those two at Comic-Con would have been better. Not that Paul wasn't funny. A bit too much like Seth Rogen, as opposed to simply being voiced by him. Nonetheless, he's an entertaining character who delivers a lot of the film's funniest moments. The bagel scene, especially!

I'm just wondering why I'm reminded of Roger the Alien from American Dad whenever I see or hear Paul the Alien. Probably because it's an alien, and because Paul Lynde was the voice inspiration for Roger the alien.

I saw it this weekend, and I liked it. Much like Hot Fuzz though, I think I'll enjoy it a bit more on DVD. (Apparently, their are tons of Movie references and whatnot that I missed) The references I did get though I enjoyed.

Saw it and liked it, despite them cutting the scenes I worked on... jerks. Good memories from that day. Loved the inside references.

It was a really great movie, but what surprised me the most was how much I enjoyed Kristen Wiig. I'm not a fan of most of her SNL characters, but I thought she did great here.
