Paul Heyman was very happy with the way last night's ECW One Night Stand PPV went and enjoyed the PPV backstage.
John Cena earnt praise with his positive mentality backstage at the event last night and was only told he would be losing the WWE title to Rob Van Dam yesterday. The hostile enviornment was something Cena also seemingly enjoyed and he had no problem dealing with the pro-ECW crowd.
Two individuals who were not at the show last night were Triple H and his wife Stephanie McMahon-Levesque, the latter due to her impending pregnancy. Although Stephanie hasn't been at TV shows lately, she has still be working hard behind the scenes in Stamford, CT.
For those wondering, the ECW referee at last night's PPV was former TNA referee Mike Posey.
Names in attendance at ECW One Night Stand yesterday included Chuck "Oz" Zito, Jonny Fairplay and former ECW star Lance Wright.
There was various merchandise on sale yesterday with t-shirts for One Night Stand, the ECW brand and the superstars (Dreamer, Sandman, Sabu and Funk) being offered.
For those thinking that the Hammerstein Ballroom looked more jampacked than last year for One Night Stand, it was. Last year rows included 12 seats but this year that has been extended to 20 on each floor. As well as the extension, standing room tickets were sold to fans for $50.
Following on from the previous post about John Cena, he was said to have really took the ECW fans' reaction in his stride, appreciating how passionate the New York City crowd actually got.
Although the ending of the Rey Mysterio-Sabu match did seem legit, this was actually pre-planned and both were fine after their high-flying title bout.
After sustaining injury in the tag-team match at One Night Stand last night, Funk needed 5-7 stitches to close up his wounds.
Big Show appeared at One Night Stand yesterday but the original plan was for him to face Spike Dudley. Those plans were however dashed when Matt Hyson tore up his WWE contract at TNA Hardcore War in Philadelphia on Friday.
It looks as if World Wrestling Entertainment has earmarked the new Director of ECW Live Events as Lou D'Angeli, aka Sign Guy Dudley and Lou E. Dangerously. He is said to have accepted the job offer and also has experience in the role as he has headed marketing for some major venues after the original ECW closed. Whether D'Angeli will have an on-screen role in the new ECW remains to be seen but he did make a cameo appearance at One Night Stand last night joining in the Rob Van Dam title celebrations.
After packing the Hammerstain Ballroom in New York City last night, ECW look next to be returning there for a live Sci Fi taping on Tuesday 8/1.
Also, the next PPV for the new ECW brand has been set for December 3, 2006.
After Rob Van Dam's controversial title win at ECW One Night Stand against John Cena last night, WWE has stated that the WWE Title situation will be cleared up on RAW tonight.
It seems that Paul Heyman counting John Cena's shoulders down for the three will be the main source of delibiration with the official Website questioning if the pin was legal, Vince McMahon's reaction, etc.
The word right now is that the whole title situation will be the catalyst for John Cena to appear on ECW's first show on Sci Fi.
As for RAW tonight, Rob Van Dam is expected to leave the show still as Champion. The consensus is that if WWE fans know Cena is going to be involved on the first ECW show because of the Title situation, it will give the new brand a crossover of WWE fans and help them get off the ground and build an even bigger fanbase in addition to the ECW fanatics.
