Yes you heard it right. I've seen shows when I was a kid, but never had much of a memory of it. Been watching it on RFDTV and I realize it's just Laugh In with a southern slant to it. Yes the jokes are corny and terrible, but if you're a fan of classic country music (which I am) you'll appreciate some of the great music that was also on the show.
Here's a small sample...I fully understand most people here won't care for this, but I love it.

You know, one of the big grocery chains around here is Hy-Vee and they have a Moutain Dew knock-off called Heee-Haw, with an extra "e." Now I can't help but think that the soda, is actually a bit underrated.

Dude. Yes.
I grew up on Hee-Haw, and even when I've seen it in more recent years, I actually legitimately find it quite funny. It kinda sucks that it's not remembered as fondly as the more classic sketch shows.

Hee Haw was fantastic. I don't remember watching it when it was on, it was a little before my time, but I have caught some of the reruns of it with my dad. It helps that we both love stupid humor and older country music. Buck Owens was phenomenal, along with most of the musically inclined cast.
Love this one from Roy Clark

It seems like there aren't too many shows that are that fun to watch anymore.

Dlg3000, you are exactly right in that it was a fun show to watch. I was never a fan of country music but I did love Hee Haw.

I actually always preferred Hee-Haw to Lave In. Preferred the music, and preferred the over the top silly characters. Minnie Pearl still cracks me up to this day.
And yes, the music was usually tremendous. It was a really interesting time in country music when it was starting to morph in a lot of ways, but still had it's ties with folk and blues going on, so it made it really dynamic. Good stuff, for certain.

Quite honestly, I think it's one of the best shows that's ever been on the TV, and I'd love the boxed set.

Hee Haw used to be my family's required Saturday night viewing when I was a kid. I didn't realize how great all of the music artists were that were on there, literally all of the country music greats appeared at some point. The comedy was corny, but at least they were jokes that a kid like myself could repeat at school and not get in trouble. Good times.

Hee Haw introduced me to cleavage at a very young age. And for that, I am forever grateful.

Hee Haw introduced me to cleavage at a very young age. And for that, I am forever grateful. Ah yes, you just jogged my memory. I just remembered that my dad was a nurse for a couple of years and was on duty for Misty Rowe's augmentation surgery in the 70's.

My grandparents & I watched this show when it was on re-runs during the mid 90's, the jokes and music were great but my fav part of the show was The Hee Haw girls
