Personally I think he is...whenever a list of great managers comes up, I never ever see his name mentioned, and I don't know if that's because of the talent he managed or something else.
Last I heard he called Steve Keirn about a job with WWE, but he was told he had to pay $3,000 for an FCW manager's course, despite his past in SMW, WCW, ECW and TNA

It's probably the fact that, TNA and possibly SMW(I never watched) aside, he was never really a focused on performer. I don't really remember him ever getting a HUGE program anywhere he went, instead being a 2nd or 3rd tier manager.

I always loved The Sinister Minister. Me too. I still sometimes crack up about the segments with him, Mikey Whipwreck, and Tajiri. Those were hilarious in my opinion.

Yes, James Mitchell is amazing. The man can do no wrong as a manager. He was the most interesting thing about Abyss in TNA, and I used to love the promos that he'd cut at the beginning of ECW ppv's running down the card. He's an amazing talent that seems to be under appreciated by the company's he's worked for.
I never knew he was in WCW, what was his role there?

He was the manager of Mortis and Wrath under the name of 'James Vandenberg' when they first came in to feud with Glacier, then the Wrath/Mortis team split, and he had his own talk segment on WCW Saturday Night, then they just paid him to sit at home and do nothing for the next two years.

Whenever I think of him, I think about that bad angle where he's Abyss' father. But, when he cut that promo saying that he was, it was epic. This guy is what WWE needs. They bring these guys in who can't talk and they need a manager. James Mitchell is your man. Vickie Guerrero proves that the manager can still be a great part of the show.

Mitchell is/was great. Even with the most silly crap imaginable like the whole Abyss deal, he still performed it well. It's a shame that he's not doing something more either in TNA or with the 'E for guys that aren't really great on the mic.

He was a great talker but I think early on he didn't have a real good grasp on what he should of been. Raven really helped him understand not just his character but the wrestling business as well.

Not just a great manager but a very smart man from the interviews i've seen. But I think the reason why the Sinister Minister hardly cracks the greatest managers lists is because he wasn't around during the "golden era" of managers in the 70's/80's. It's kind of like the Dudleys. They're a great tag team. And many consider them the best. But it's easy to be the best when there are no other great tag teams in that same time period. And James is the same. He is a great manager, but it's a shame he wasn't around 10 years earlier. Because there really isn't any other managers in the higher end markets of U.S. wrestling.
Also, he does a great impression of Sandman.

He is an awesome manager, but he came around the time managers were being phased out. He was a victim of timing. It always baffled me why the WWE never brought him into manage Kane.

I LOVED Father James Mitchell and everything he's done.
I have to agree with everything that's already been said above. Vicky IS showing that managers can still be relavent today. Hell, even bringing back Abraham Washingtom to have a small stable (I think anyways) is a good idea.
There are so many guys that James Mitchell could have been paired with over the years that really could have taken them to the next level:
Kevin Thorn - even tho FJM was never a vampire, he would still fit very well with him Shelton Benjamin - Shelton "selling his soul to the devil" to finally be able to win the "big one" Basham Brothers - hired henchman style gimmick (kinda like early Acolytes)
currently: Tyson Kidd and his new Deisel - why else would Tyson turn on his family Skip Sheffeild - anything is better than "Cornfed Meathead" Ezekial Jackson - Zeke & Skip = APA 2.0
