I'm doing a presentation on unsung heroes and I'm thinking of talking about wrestlers as (by and large) they are considered to be quite a sleazy bunch, so I'd like to celebrate some of the real life heroic acts performed by wrestlers. The main two that spring to mind are Jerry Lynn who was awarded a medal of valour after he save a kid from drowning and Bam Bam Bigelow who suffered burns saving a bunch of kids from a house fire (and obviously all the WWE make a wish stuff)
any others you can think of?

Rico and Elijah Burke were both cops, might be able to find something in there or use that..

Kerry von Erich once stopped a purse snatcher outside I think MSG.
There's a story out there about Perry Saturn saving a young girl from being raped, though its validity has been questioned.

I remember reading years ago that Rick Steiner and Dr. Death saw a car on fire along the highway and pulled the driver out as bullets that were in the car exploded from the heat.

John Cena was a Marine that went rogue and saved his wife from crazy thugs He was also a police officer who had to save his wife from some crazy guy. Damn this Cena is unlucky in his jobs. If I can be serious for a minute....... If I was the topic starter, I'd definately highlight the make a wish stuff. The video on Raw the other week was definately tugged at the heart strings. You could mention Paul Burchill, seeing as he has supposdly become a firefighter.

I remember reading in WCW Magazine a letter a woman wrote in saying that her disabled son basically found the strength to keep going each day through how good DDP's wrestling made him feel. Not quite the same thing, but you know. That touched me when I read it.

Did Jerry Lynn pulling the kid from the water get a "THIS IS AWESOME" chant?

Harley Race apparently stopped a robbery in a diner he happened to be in, then sat down and finished his meal.

Heidenreich took loads of time off the road to help out in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
And of course, the possible urban legend of Perry Saturn stopping a woman from getting assaulted, and noticing the next day that he had been shot during his efforts.

Mickie James had to perform CPR while waiting for an ambulance on a fan that just blacked out during a fanfest.

I remember reading years ago that Rick Steiner and Dr. Death saw a car on fire along the highway and pulled the driver out as bullets that were in the car exploded from the heat. I came in here to say this. And this was when Rick was still an "unknown" in the Mid-South territory, because I believe the story called him "Rob Rexsteiner". The cool part was how the two had to rip the door off the car to get to the guy.

Didnt Bobby Heenan stop some guy who was trying to open the back door of an airplane while in the air? Yes he did. The guy turned out to have some form of mental illness and I think had just been released from an institution or hospital.

While not entirely the same thing, Steamboat prevented Damian from killing Jake one time during a match.
