For what? Nash Bridges or a small part in The Expendables? The question was the four biggest names IN wrestling. What he did outside it is irrelevant. But Austin was to use a cliche, a pop culture icon in the late 90s. Certainly if you asked anyone in my generation to name a wrestler they'd most likely say Hogan, Rock or Austin. Simple as that.

Hogan, Austin & the Rock for sure.
No. 4 is up for debate. I'm sure Andre, Randy Savage & Roddy Piper are more mainstream than Flair. Probably Gorgeous George too.

Even my father knows about Andre, Hogan, Austin and The Rock, so chances are excellent they are the big four.

to put a twist on this question, how many wrestlers do you guys think have actual mainstream face recognition?
not undertaker going to mma and an interviewer sees him. i mean show a picture of him in ring gear and the overwhelming majority of people identify him (like a real celebrity as in the arnold or tom cruise) - even if they have never seen wrestling?
based purely on wrestling - not 'oh thats the guy who played the toothfairy, i didnt know he wrestled..'
not sure too many outside of hogan
