I know there is a thread going around, but I decided to start this one because:
A. I wanted to run the poll
B. The old thread hasn't been posted in for a couple of weeks and I dunno when the cutoff point is for "bumping an old thread".
C. The old thread is almost full anyway (about 1 page short of getting locked), and I'm wanting to use this as a place to also post friend codes and whatnot when the game launches.
So kids, we're just a few days away. This Sunday is the big day.
I got my preorder done and ready to go, and my little brother (who also posts here) will either be reserving his copy soon or just buying it outright from somewhere on launch day.
In fact, I lucked out and will also be going on Spring Break next week. So I get the whole week to do nothing but play it (and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Gran Turismo 5). My little bro then gets the next week off while I go back to school, so he'll get a chance to catch up.
I'm getting White and starting with Tepig. I've passed on the Fire/Fighting type one time too many and i'm not passing it up this time. My brother is getting Black and SAYS he is getting Oshawott, but he said he was getting Totodile in HG/SS all the way to Elm's lab and then he changed his mind and went with Cyndaquil at the last second of the last minute of the final hour.
Also...is it strange i'm considering using the female character this time around?
Anyway, discuss away kids! The Unova region is about to be overrun in crap.

When I get the game in the future, I'll be getting the Black version and starting with Snivy.

I'll be starting with Oshawott on the White version, renamed Revolver. When it fully evolves, it'll be changed to HvnPiercer.

White/Snivy I always get the less popular version (Blue, Gold, Sapphire, LeafGreen, Pearl), and even though White has Zekrom, I assume more people will get Black because Black is kewl. Snivy is a no brainer. I was going to continue my streak of water starters (Totodile, Mudkip, Piplup...I chose Bulbasaur in Blue ), but after seeing {Spoiler}Ash's Snivy , I became too much of a fan and now I must have one.

Pokemon Black and White.........because even one of the hottest video games for kids wants you to pick sides in the "race war".

I wish the new ones were still coming out for the GBA,because I'm not getting the DS for awhile, don't play enough handhelds to justify the cost.

White so I can eventually find "Braviary", and the water thing, as it's always the first I pick.

I really don't understand why they brought out a next gen pokemon game on the ds when the 3ds just came out There is an interview floating around the net where...I forget the name...(tried to do a search and came up empty, but I did watch it myself just a few days ago), but the big reason was the c-gear. It gives you a bunch of different connectivity options (letting you know when a friend is online) and even allowing a player to battle someone within wireless range immediately, regardless of where they are or what they're doing (provided neither one is mid-battle). The game also has an infared sensor (on the cart I believe? I've never heard of the DS having any infared outside of the wireless connection stuff) that allows you to quickly swap friend codes, trade, and start battles. From what I gather it's supposed to be a major deal for the game, and they couldn't figure out how to work that into the 3DS cart technology. They have said the game will work on the 3DS, but I THINK they said the infared doesn't work. It's complicated, if I had some more time i'd explain, but from what I understand that was one big reason.

Since the DS is in the Decline stage of the Product Life Cycle, why not bring in one last juggernaut to boost sales?

Since the DS is in the Decline stage of the Product Life Cycle, why not bring in one last juggernaut to boost sales? I would think that putting Black and white on the new system would be the "smart move". I don't think any of the other pokemon games had a next gen come out when a new system came out. I mean, has there ever been 2 new generations coming out for the same system?

i wish i had a DS and could afford one of the games. as for a starter, what type is the first gym? Basically, whichever starter you pick, the Gym Leader you face is going to be type that's Super Effective against your starter, just like your rival in all of the past games. As for me, I still have no idea which version or which starter to pick. I might lean more towards White, since it has the White Forest, which you could catch a good crop of past generation Pokemon. Black has Black City, which doesn't have that (probably a smart sales move, since people will more likely buy Black. This will make people have a 2nd thought and might buy White simply for the extra exclusives). I still might pick Snivy (Smugleaf), but damn, Oshawott has grown on me lately.

I mean, has there ever been 2 new generations coming out for the same system? Technically Gold and Silver were supposed to be on the Game Boy just like Red and Blue were (and ran on it just fine too). Crystal only worked on the GBC though if I recall. Plus the GBC had such a short life compared to the other portables anyway (Crystal was one of the last games for it). I just put a notch for Gold and Silver being on the same system as Red and Blue. And no there hasn't been two new generations on a system other than that. But they have had two gens per system at least (counting the remakes). Plus from what I hear those remakes really never took much effort anyway (I LOVE Heart Gold and Soul Silver, but so much of that is cut out of Diamond and Pearl and retouched minorly). To be quite honest a new Pokemon game alone still wouldn't sell me on getting a 3DS (which I WILL get one, but not day 1 like my brother is considering). It's why I missed an entire gen with Ruby and Sapphire. I got a GBA after those games came out and was on hiatus from the series. To this day I haven't played Ruby and Sapphire or Fire Red/Leaf Green.

Well, i usually go Water-type, so if i get this game (possibly getting both in the event i can afford it) i'll almost certainly take Oshawott, although i won't say no to Snivy.

To this day I haven't played Ruby and Sapphire or Fire Red/Leaf Green. I got a GBA on Christmas the year it was released, and after Gold, Silver and Crystal (I had and played all 3, until some little douche decided to outright rob me of Gold and Crystal. I still have my Silver cartridge today, which was my very first Pokemon game that I owned, thankfully), I was on a hiatus from the series as well. I still haven't played anything from Gen 3, and it wasn't until Platinum when I returned to the series.
