Today is Record Store Day where the music industry try to get people into independent record stores as well as buy vinyl thru the release of a variety of exclusives.
I left work early this morning to get there before the store closest to me opened and when I got there half an hour before opening, there were already about 30 people lined up. It was pretty cramped as they had all the exclusives in a small section of the store. It was like Black Friday for music geeks except everybody was really nice and people weren't really out for themselves (i.e. if somebody said that they were looking for a certain release and another person saw it, they'd grab it and pass it over to them).
Here's what I picked up:
- "All I Want" by A Day to Remember on a 7" etched disc limited to 2000 copies
- "Join the Ranks" by Rise Against on a 7" limited to 1000 copies
- a Rhymesayer Records sampler numbered to 1000 copies with a bonus sticker and digital download card for the album
- "Support Your Local Record Store" EP by Silverstein on a 7" vinyl with a printrun of 500 copies
- "American Tragedy" by Hollywood Undead on a picturedisc vinyl with an autographed picture of the band limited to 1000 copies
