I'm back at home with the fam near the valley, so I'm good, but I have a ton of friends in SF(where I used to live) and they aren't too concerned. If a tsunami hits, it won't be for another several hours. That gives them plenty of time to evacuate if need be, but I don't think they will need to

:/ Any Crappers in Hawaii who can tell me what's going on over there? There's so much conflicting information right now. My parents aren't answering their phones so they're probably asleep... They shouldn't be sleeping right now :<

I'm watching footage of this on AlJazeeraEnglish, and the devastation is terrible....the water just BULLDOZES everything out of it's way: houses, boats, cars, trucks, semis....NOTHING stops it.
Absolutely astounding, the bloody power of the thing.

Called my brother, he hasn't heard from mom and dad either. My biggest worry right now is that if something hits while they're sleeping they won't have enough time to get out.

When we heard of this and the warnings given to other areas especially the Philippines my parents and sister phoned our relatives and warned them to be prepared. I hope and pray that those other place will be prepared, and I pray to those victimized. It seems those on the Pacific plates are affected so that does mean the West Coast will probably be affected, which is where I am also standing. To those down there in the Philippines and other Pacific regions, stay away from the coast.

Do you know their address? Maybe you could call one of their neighbors and have them go over and bang on their door? I don't know....just tossing ideas out there.

This is just terrible. The shots of all this damage and the people crowded on buildings surrounded by water.. I don't really have words.
Citten, I hope your parents are okay.

Hawai'i impact time is being given as 0259 HST.
Not cheery news but if you didn't know, people with friends/family in Hawai'i, I guess you need to.

I'm considering driving to my mom and dad's house on the coast and getting the cats. They live a mile from the beach. I'm 3 hours away.
It's not like I'll be sleeping tonight anyway :<

My TV was interrupted and they said warning, but there's so much conflicting information right now. I've got no idea what's going on. I don't know if my hometown is safe.

Yes, it's been upgraded to a WARNING. In effect for the coastal areas of California and Oregon from Point Concepcion, California to the Oregon-Washington border. I'm not in the area so I can't say for sure, depending on where you are.

AlJazeeraEnglish just mentioned Oregon by name.
*goes pale*
And my God....26 are now reported dead in Honshu, and fires are burning across the tsunami's path of destruction.
Lord Almighty, there's so much destruction.
