He said on the "Rise and Fall..." DVD that he really thought it was Extremely Crappy Wrestling. funny, coming from a guy who worked in Memphis, home of the most creative gimmicks on Earth.

A guy coming to the ring and pouring booze down a recovering alcoholic's throat is high class wrestling it seems.

Yeah, and he's got heat with Andy Kaufman too.

Yeah, and he's got heat with Andy Kaufman too. Ding ding ding! Lawler is old school and a company man; he has no heat with ECW as they help pay the bills AND because he truly believes in never revealing any secrets. Good example of this is the Andy Kauffman feud.

Good example of this is the Andy Kauffman feud. Yeah, hard to believe he would show up at an ECW event in the 90's to further an angle with them, as he did. My opinion, he was just used by WWF/E to give ECW a boost when they had a working relationship, and has stuck to his character over the years (unthinkable in WWE these days )

I don't think he does, I think he's just playing up the character, and as was said above, he's old school.
On the Dusty Rhodes DVD, Rhodes talked about how everytime Terry Funk was in public, he would talk about what a horrible person Dusty was, and would always be insulting him, but in private, would always give him a hug. So that may be it.

He said on the "Rise and Fall..." DVD that he really thought it was Extremely Crappy Wrestling. We did this in another thread, but I will recap for those who missed it. Yes, Lawler and ECW have real heat. No different than the real heat Cornette and Bischoff have with Heyman. I guess since they both showed up at ECW events like Lawler did nobody has any heat with Saint Heyman. IWC loves Heyman, so they assume everyone must and any heat on Heyman is a work. Like was stated above, Lawler shot on ECW on their DVD over a year ago in a serious manner. This was before they planned any ECW full time revival so there was no reason for him to work it. Lawler has personal heat with Heyman going back to when Heyman took the book in old ECW away from Eddie Gilbert who was a Lawler buddy. Heyman put Lawler's other buddy Jim Cornette out of business and took Cornette's top act, The Gangstas. Professionally, Heyman started running Memhpis and kicking the ass of Lawler's lame 50th incarnation of the USWA. Heyman got pay per view and became an icon as a booker, while Lawler was a total flop as a promoter. When Lawler was in WWF in 1996 he was there on a talent sharing agreement with McMahon where he got WWF talent and money. Then Heyman got a deal where he got more money, more talent, and even Raw air time to plug his shows, so Lawler hated him. Lawler went into business for himself when ECW was first on Raw. Heyman and ECW guys did not appreciate it and let Lawler know it. Lawler's cracks about Tazz's height and other specifics about ECW wrestlers were not cleared. Now, Lawler's anti ECW stuff is much more generic and pre approved.
