Hey guys, me and some of my gamer friends were having a chat last night, and we got to talking about old-school CD-Rom games back in the early to mid 90s that used lots of discs, and we got to talking, and I remember that was just a staple of gaming back then.
I can remember a game called "Under a Killing Moon" that had 6 discs, and you have to keep swapping discs out one after the other to play the game. Then there were the PSOne games that were three or four discs deep. I remember Final Fantasy Vii, I think that bragged about being five-discs deep.
Anyway, what I was wondering, what games do you remember that had lots of discs?

Final Fantasy VII was 3 discs. And Final Fantasy VIII and IX were 4 discs. So was The Legend of Dragoon.

Final Fantasy VII was 3 discs. And Final Fantasy VIII and IX were 4 discs. So was The Legend of Dragoon. The good old days of pre-rendered graphics and FMV sequences. I bet if they took out both, non of those games would have made more than 2 disks. Even Metal Gear Solid was 2 disks because of the ginourmous VA done for the game. God, those were hours and hours of VA.

Riven was 5 discs. Fox Hunt was 3 discs. Shenmue for Dreamcast was 4 discs, though the last one was extras.

I remember around when the PS2 came out I had a friend that was waiting on the first PS2 game to use 2 discs. Don't think it ever happened.

I think I remember Resident Evil 2 having two discs, or did I just make that up?

I remember from Spoony's look at Ripper that that particular game needed seven discs to run.

Devil May Cry 2 was another, although I don't think that counts since from what I remember it's the same game twice, just with different characters.

All the Tex Murphy and Phantasmagoria games were on 5 to 7 discs each, if I remember correctly.

Phantasmagoria games were on 5 to 7 discs each, if I remember correctly. Phantasmagoria on the PC had seven discs (and I'm pretty sure this was actually mentioned in the advertising, as if it was something to be proud of), the Sega Saturn version had eight. Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh came on "only" five discs. Black Dahlia, another FMV game from the mid to late 90's, also came on eight CDs.

I mean, I guess it does sort of count though.

The Pandora Directive used six discs. It was a silly, corny, point-and-click adventure detective movie game.
But Christopher "R.J. Fletcher" McDonald was in it, so that made it cool.
