We've all seen this:
But I keep thinking.. What if one of MY teams moved away? What would I do. Being from Boston, I gotta feel like I'm pretty safe, but what would I do if all of a sudden it was the Phoenix Red Sox, or there were no Red Sox at all?
I have a friend from Seattle who LOVED the Sonic. I don't think he watches basketball anymore

I'd still likely follow the sport, but I wouldn't support the team in the new location. The NBA isn't a fair comparison because we just got the team that left Seattle, but if my favorite NFL team left, I'd still pay attention to the league, just not to the team.
I moved around a lot as a kid (military brat), so I never got to grow up around one particular team. My "team" was where most of my family lived (Kansas City), so they're the teams I cared the most about even though I didn't live full out there. But I can understand people who did taking it much harder than I would and stop watching.

If the Vikings end up moving from Minnesota I'll be devastated. I easily pay more attention and keep up with them over any other sport. I'll still follow them and be a fan but it won't be the same. Not even close to the same.

f*** the Kings, man. It was hard supporting them and then they gotta go and leave me like that.

If the Cardinals left St. Louis, I'd first concern myself with volunteering for the recovery effort after the city riots.
After that, I guess I'd still follow them.

Things work differently in England so hopefully there’d be a new team set up that would start again at the bottom like AFC Wimbledon.
If not I’d go to a few Reading Town games a season but it wouldn’t be the same.

I'd probably stop watching the sport or try and become a fan of the other team in the area.
Granted I'm in New York so there isn't much worry about that. I'd say the team I'm a fan of that's in the most trouble of that happening to is the Devils due to their being a newer franchise and the NHL not being as big as the other sports leagues. And even then it's a long shot. But I can't see the Knicks, Giants, or especially Yankees going anywhere.
Though I would like to know what happened to all the Dodgers and Giants fans in the area between the teams moving out to California and the Mets being created.

This is one thing that disgusts me about American sports, that they move "franchises". Its shouldn't be a damn franchise. Over here and im sure in many US cities/towns, a sports team can be a real source of passion and the heartbeat of the town. The one thing that unites many in that one place. To move a majorly supported football team in Scotland or England, hell, Europe, would all but get you lynched.

Well there is only one major league team directly in my area, and it would suck if they moved.
However all the other teams I follow are in some pretty solid markets, namely the Denver and Dallas-Fort Worth areas, so my teams aren't going anywhere soon.

I lost a lot of respect for Ric Flair due to him still going to New Orleans Hornets games. We have the Bobcats now, but it's just not the same. If the Panthers ever left, I'd just die.

I'm sure I'd be volunteering to help with the inevitable nuclear fallout from the Montreal Canadiens leaving town.

Not even close to the same. My issue is that if the Vikings moved, I'm not sure who I could even pick up to replace them. Packers/Bears? That's like swapping from BoSox to Yankees or vice versa. So I dunno... become a Chief's fan or something? Maybe the pick an NFC team like the Rams

I'll be sad if the Rams leaves St. Louis. The same goes for the T-Wolves in Minnasota.

The only pro team I follow that's really close around me is the Sioux Falls Storm, the indoor football team. I would have to say losing them would be a major blow. They are one of the most elite indoor football teams in the history of indoor/arena football. I would put them on par with the Tampa Bay Storm and the Detroit Drive in terms of a dynasty.
They've only had one season where they went under .500 and that was in 2009, when they had to forfeit 5 wins due to not having correct insurance for their players. And that was the closest time we almost lost them, as the former owner was in legal trouble for other things as well.
Sure, we have the Skyforce, the Stampede, and the Pheasants, but I don't really follow them or have the passion for them as much as I do the Storm.
This wouldn't affect just me. Losing the Storm would be another major blow to the IFL, as they lost one of the other major teams in the league last year, after the back to back defending league champions, the Billings Outlaws, folded. Losing the Outlaws was an end to one of the best recent rivalries in sports.

I don't know. I guess it would depend on the sport and situation. The only problem is that I really don't follow said team super close. If the team took off like the Baltimore Colts did, I would be highly upset.
I like the Mets, but if they moved, I would be oh well. I might be more upset if the Bills moved, but I could also see more of why they did. Changes are, I might consider changing teams. If I moved, then I would still follow the teams, not switch alliances.
