I've been on the board much more recently then I have over the past few years, but I have to say, without picking on anyone in particular you guys are the biggest bunch of grumpy, complaining, low self esteem, no confidence jerks I've ever met. And I love you for it (and just to be clear, I include myself in this group)
Recently there have been so many threads about how people are afraid to post, too nervous to talk to girls, don't have friends, hate everything yada yada. So what happened to you guys that made you this way. Is it just your whole life or can you pinpoint a moment of change?
I honestly don't mean to pick on anyone, and I think it would just be really interesting to have a thread to discuss this a little.
I'll start. I was a total Momma's boy until the age of 13 when my mom passed away. Obviously it was a traumatic moment, but I really feel like I spent the next couple of years pushing people away and doing anything I could to be cooler than cool. Now I feel like I'm starting to get better and grow a little, but my overall sense of self is still a little messed up.
I know that a lot of you will reply to this with jokes, and I kind of love when you do, but if anyone seriously wants to say something that would be awesome.

Both of my parents are dead and I am a better man because of it. No, I'm not joking.

Even if you're including yourself, and you "love us," calling us names like that isn't much of a way to win friends and influence people. Seriously, after five or so years on this board, I find it to be more positive than several other boards I've either frequented in the past, or currently frequent, including two that I'm on staff with.
To be quite frank, if you can't handle people being able to feel safe and vent their concerns, frustrations, fears, and problems around here, you're taking it way too seriously. Everyone needs to vent, and to assume that this one moment of discussion of one topic that may not be about s***ting daisies and riding unicorns over the rainbow consumes their entire being is insanely naive at best, and willfully ignorant to boot. At worst? I'm not even going there, as I'm not looking to insult in return to what I took as a blanket judgment on the whole board.
The world is a big and wonderful place with lots of interesting and enlightening things to be experienced, but it also comes with the occasional bloody nose. If you can't handle people needing to go and take solace in a friendly place every now and again, maybe its time to rethink your own motivations for being around here?
EDIT: Of the 47 or 48 threads on the first page of OT, not counting the stuck Ask a Mod and Picture thread, I count a whole 3 that are in the negative vein you describe above. 3 out of 48. That doesn't seem to be horribly negative.

With a lot of people why shy personalities this might be the only place they feel like they can open up. I don't think there is anything "wrong" with it.

I'm not saying that its wrong, but I think that when someone has a thread talking about how they're too shy to post on a forum I'm wondering if there isn't more there, and if they are willing to talk about I would be happy to talk about it with them.
I'm not trying to say something is wrong with them, but maybe through talking about it they can start to feel more comfortable. I feel like if you think I'm being insulting or whatever that's fair, but you're taking my opening, which was meant to be friendly and a joke too seriously

I like pointing out people's mistakes, and with that said, that first post wasn't really that long.

It's when 1) Goldberg or Larry Zbysko steps into the ring, which ends in either a squash or a 9 minute side headlock, or 2) when Mr. Hanky and the Poo Goblin from Dogma have a wrestling match.
