I've seen people assume there is going to be a mass firing this year like in the past couple of years. With that in mind, I don't think that it's going to happen this year
Let's not forget that the 2004 mass firings supposedly came due to slow house show business, and these days, business in that aspect is good. Meanwhile, the 2005 mass firings came as a result of lost revenue from the move back to USA.
In addition, I think nearly everyone who got fired this year did so due to misconduct that was frowned upon by company. The only exceptions I can think of is Rosey and the juniors.
The only way I can see mass firings this year is with the ECW roster if the experiment fails.
What do you think?

Well, we are only half-way through 2006 so maybe by winter if things don't look up with the new ECW project, then it's quite possible we'll see some mass firings.

I know once a week someone says "I think the brand split is about to end!" but this is the first period where I actually suspect it will. It'd be real easy for them to ditch it and use ECW as their "2nd brand".
At any rate, if that were to occur you'd certainly see quite a few releases.
Orlando Jordan and Tyson Tomko were released also, I don't recall either of them being released due to misconduct. Christy Hemme was going to be sent to OVW but then immediately released. Johnny Parisi was sent to Deep South Wrestling, if you want to count something like that.

All businesses cut back then at the start of the new business year. ECW will be officially dead then, so it will coincide with the new fiscal quarter and year. Domestic house show business is still in the toilet and television advertising revenue is way down, so if ECW does not produce (and it will not) contraction is needed.

Tomko quit when his planned tag team push was handed to Dusty Rhodes' baby boy. Hemme - Batista and Hunter, non wrestling tag team. Enough said. Whoever this mysterious Parisi person is does not count. Smackdown can not be eliminated, just because it sucks. WWF just signed a long term deal with CW network specifically for Smackdown branded content.

If the firings do happen then there'll be the usual "why has Scotty 2 Hotty still got a job" thread popping up left, right and centre Personally I see the deadwood being given the chop around Christmas time, just to make things all nice and festive for those who'll be phoning TNA for a job - ie Gymini, Bashams, Dupree, Flair, Cena, Shane McMahon (apologies for the crappy pun at the beginning)

Bashams, Dupree, and all the old ECW guys will be the first to go in January.

Saying Cena is a bad joke, Vince wants to turn him into the next Austin or Rock or Hogan, he won't be released. Just because you don't like someone doesn't mean Vince will fire them.

Flair just signed a 1 year renewal he is not going any place. Shane McMahon and Cena were bad jokes no matter how much they may stink.

Conway,Scotty,Dupree,Bashams,Sylvan,Lance Cade,Trevor Murdoch,Johnny Parisi,Val Venis,Fuanki,Jamie Noble- Could all be on the chopping block I doubt Noble since he just got signed again. Val and Scotty are WWF lifers who are popular with other wrestlers and management. Funaki may choose to move to Japan like Tajiri, but he is also over huge with other wresters and management.

Agreed Val, Funaki, and Scotty aren't going anywhere unless theere is some kind of misconduct. They are jobbers who are over and don't complain. (I've never heard anything atlease)

As annoying as Scotty is, he pops a live crowd. I admit to popping for him live for reasons i do not understand. Val and Funaki are good veteran workers. They get a pop and do great putting over hosses and green punks.

For as utterly useless as some people are, who could The E AFFORD to fire at this point?!
With the rate injuries seem to happen on the once-mighty SD! roster, I for one can't believe nobody's pushing Chimmel and Lillian into the ring just to take up space. Sheesh.
I sincerely hope Orton on RAW is not permanent. I really, really hope not. We're not far from watching a two-hour Booker-Finlay-Lashley triple threat match, at the rate the roster is checking in for surgery. But who am I kidding? I'm sure it will pick back up eventually. Let's just hope it happens before Booker retires, 'Taker's body gives out, Batista finds a new muscle to tear, and the hottest young talents end up prematurely injured.
