Apologies if this has already been posted, but... I told you so. People were trying to say that this movie was going to flop, based on the fact that it looks lame. But it was pitched just right - it didn't cost very much, deliberately, and was heavily advertised at no cost. Which is the WWE business model for the upcoming movies, and sounds like a great revenue earner. And it'll do good DVD business, as is the current trend for modern horror movies (it's what put Land of the Dead in profit).

It's not Titanic-like numbers, but nobody expected it to reach that plateau anyway.
I think he means it's a success because it turned a profit and still managed to get into double digit million dollar figures despite going up against DaVinci Code, Over the Hedge, and X-Men 3

12 million makes it a success?? Actually since they ended up making money, yes.

It has made money at theatres, so all other money is profit, and as they can shill the hell out of the DVD, they should make a lot. I guess it'll rush to DVD quite soon.

12 million makes it a success?? This is such a blockbuster mindset - look at See No Evil as an old-fashioned low-budget exploitation movie. It wasn't there to destroy the box office with a $100+ take, but at the same time, it was unlikely to lose money. It's the perfect business model for the 'E.

Vince is a fool to get into movie making.
It is extremely hard to turn a profit and takes a lot of work.

Vince is a fool to get into movie making. It is extremely hard to turn a profit and takes a lot of work. Actually, as shown, it's relatively easy to turn a small profit, if done right. It's hard/risky to turn a huge one, though... that's what's ruined the movie biz, and turned the whole thing into a gigantic crap shoot. Although I love the films, I blame Jaws, for inventing 'the summer blockbuster', and Star Wars for confirming the trend.

I wouldn't think it'd get a wide release, but I'm shocked that it isn't playing any cinemas here. Shows how cautious WWE are being with it.

Sounds about right, I was guessing around $20 mill and it looks like they're roughly on target for that when everything is all said and done.

The bad thing is, this will make Vince think he can put out movies all the time and make money. The film was a modest success based solely on it's low budget. It had to hit what, 8 million to break even?
The film was still looked upon as a joke to anyone outside of the wrestling community, and by quite a few in the wrestling community.
I love a good horror flick, but See No Evil was in no way a horror movie, or even a passable psuedo-horror movie. It was terrible.

If they stick to that formula, WWE films will be a reasonable income stream.

If Kane had actually killed people in the movie, it would be an even bigger success. Sometimes you need some blood and gore to make it more believable.

Does anyone remember the threads/polls that had See No Evil as the worst movie in modern history? Or how itd be out of every theatre in 2 weeks? Or how it'd bankrupt the WWE because there was no way it was going to make a dime?
This is why the "wait and see" approach actually makes sense. Im glad to see that some of the "experts" here that know everything about movie making were wrong on this.
