I'm calling it now. Their match tonight was perhaps the most entertained I've been by an actual wrestling match in quite some time. Excluding the ending, and considering the current state that SD is in, I think they needed a match like that, something that had great spots, great ring storytelling, and great competitiveness from both participants.
Discuss.

For the WWE, its definately a candidate. That match was fantastic. Angle already has two great matches this year under his belt.

I don't think so (MOTY), but it was very good, with the exception of the finish.
Angle's had some great matches with certain people. People usually mention Benoit, or sometimes Guerrero. But Angle and Mysterio have always put on great matches too.
This is the fued Rey should have been having, not getting squashed weekly.

I agree this was a great match for sure. I will sure miss Kurt Angle on SD.

I actually liked the countout finish, and felt they managed to have it not feel like a screwjob, and it kept both wrestlers looking strong.

A great match, shame the rest of SD was bullshit.

I think the ending was almost necessary, tho, as having either Angle or Rey get pinned/submit would have taken momentum out of both guys. Plus, it showed the lengths Angle was willing to go to get the win, which might run into ECW. He could have pulled Rey back into the match if he wanted to, but instead he let him get counted out, and almost injured him. I think the end worked for what it was.

I agree with that. I think the ending was almost necessary, tho, as having either Angle or Rey get pinned/submit would have taken momentum out of both guys. If Rey getting pinned or submitting by Kurt Angle of all people stops his momentum, those clean losses to Khali and Henry sent him flying backwards. Anyway though, this WAS a great match, and one of the better TV matches I've seen recently. Good fast pace, or at least medium pace, not a dull moment.

If Rey getting pinned or submitting by Kurt Angle of all people stops his momentum, those clean losses to Khali and Henry sent him flying backwards. How funny would it be if they give Rey the gimmick that he loses every non-title match he's in in squashes, but wins the title matches to keep retaining? Wait, 'funny' isn't the word. What's that word...y'know, the one that's the opposite of 'funny'...oh, that's right. 'Sad'.

I loved it and it makes me regret that I didn't record Smackdown this week. What a week to do that but the Heat/Pistons were on too. What can I do?

If Meltzer doesn't give this 5 stars, I'd blame the countout ending. Anything less than 4 stars, however, is highway robbery.
I don't know what I'm talking about.

I give it ****1/2. The countout finish was the only thing I had a beef with. Other than that, it's a definite candidate.

Great TV match. I give it a Kerry on the VE scale.
