As a kid, I didn't have cable, so especially during the summer, after early morning cartoons went off there wasn't anything for a kid to watch on TV except PBS.
Reading Rainbow, 3-2-1 Contact, Square One, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, Ghost Writer, of course when I was younger Sesame Street and Mr Rogers, I loved them all.
While I don't have kids, I have nieces and nephews they don't watch any PBS shows at all, never have, not even Sesame Street. They just watch stuff on The Disney Channel or Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon.
So do kids watch any PBS shows anymore?

I hope Arthur is still on. That was a good show.

I hope Arthur is still on. That was a good show. *Checks schedule* Why, yes it is. PBS is still decent enough an educational channel. I've seen bits and pieces of Wordgirl, and it's actually not that horrible.

I hope Arthur is still on. That was a good show. I think they still make new episodes.

I also agree that Wordgirl rocks. Of course, almost any cartoon that has Tom Kenny in the cast pretty much falls into the "rocks" category.

My "little man" and my "monster" like Sesame Street, but mainly they watch it on the Sprout network, although if it's on PBS they'll watch it then, too. They especially like Elmo and Telly. Elmo is annoying, IMO, but Telly seems like an alright dude.

Particularly, him sitting with Ricky Gervais. "When did you lose this interview?"

My 4 year old sister almost exclusively watches Nick Jr., but she does really enjoy Curious George

The Cat In The Hat Knows A Lot About That is f***ing amazing, if only for the art direction. It literally looks like you're watching a Seuss book.

When they were younger, as most of the shows are kinda geared towards the under-8 crowd. My two would watch Arthur and Clifford. Martha Speaks and WordGirl.
I know I did. I learned how to read on the toilet because it helped me figure out when Sesame Street was on. (Didn't every family keep a TV Guide in the bathroom back then?)
