I prefer 3 to NV, The story felt better and the landscape was more recognisable, plus I can't take a bunch of guys dressing up in roman armor seriously. I mean this is the post nuclear worl where the hell did they get roman uniforms? I can't think where I would get hundreds of roman uniforms in real life. I just figured since it was set in Las Vegas, they got the uniforms from Ceasar's Palace. As for me, FO3 for the time being, simply because it has more (thanks to the DLC). Plus I haven't played New Vegas yet. :-p

EASILY New Vegas. After awhile I didn't like the actual FO3 too much while New Vegas felt more like a true Fallout 3 in every sense. Hell, Obsidian even used a lot of the stuff they had from Van Buren (the codename for the original FO3 before Black Isle was dissolved and Interplay sold off the rights to the series) in New Vegas so I think of it more as the actual Fallout 3 while Bethesda's FO3 is a spinoff in the vein of Tactics or Brotherhood of Steel or something. Oof, comparing it to Brotherhood of Steel? That's just harsh. Given that it's referenced a few times in NV, and the fact that it was a proper numbered part of the series, I can't consider it a spinoff. It's got a different feel, sure, but every game in the series has that to an extent. --- Anyhow, I'd say that in terms of story quality and mechanics, New Vegas is definitely the better game, which is in many respects the most important thing. But in terms of pure fun, I think 3 wins out. New Vegas feels a lot more restrictive, both in terms of how you're allowed to go around the map (the trek to NV is TEDIOUS, ironic that a sandbox game starts out so horribly linear. Feels like American Werewolf In London, there's so much encouragement to stick to the path...) and you really have to know which type of build and what perks you want, since that's been cut down on. Seems a bit of a step backwards in that respect. Also, I thought F3 handled homes nicely. If you want, it's quite easy to get a house early on in the game, allowing you to keep all your accumulated clutter in one spot and build it up as you get richer, then go out and explore the Wasteland. By contrast, New Vegas makes you hold onto everything until you get to the titular city, and even then, it's a heck of a wait until you get your little suite. A lot of my problems with New Vegas have actually been eliminated since I got the PC version and stocked up on mods. Perks come every level, and some pop up naturally once related skills are high enough, and the tedious treks are cut down on via quadruple-running-speed-sunglasses and a working TARDIS, which also acts as a home base.

You should probably also note, that it's almost impossible to actually "play" the original due to how glitched and bugged the whole game is.

So, I just DL'd the "Honest Hearts" DLC for NV... and so far, that has REALLY made it stand out even more. Love the environments of Utah. Kinda nice to see a place untouched by the bombs, and just the tribals living w/ nature.
