There was a point in time where every champion in WWE was an ECW alumnus. It was awesome.
I think it was: Sheamus as WWE Champion The Miz as US Champion The Hart Dynasty as Tag Team Champions Alicia Fox as Diva's Champion
Kane as World Heavyweight Champion Kofi Kingston as Intercontinental Champion Layla as Women's Champion

The only thing that sucked about WWECW was that it carried the ECW name. Had they re-branded it then it probably would have been held in much higher regard.

Compare the last year of the first ECW, and then the last of the second. ECW 2.0 improved the name of ECW, imo. It was arguably the best in-ring wrestling show on television.

I just assumed when Vince thanked 'the superstars', that included all the originals as well.
Of course WWECW improved ECW, original ECW was the overhyped internet favourite wrestler in promotion form. /Cole

I'm still mourning. Best WWE show of the modern era.

They really ought to just ditch the reality TV gimmicks and rebrand NXT as what ECW used to be.

I miss WWECW. Well, in the early days it wasn't so good, but from about 2008 onwards it was consistently good. It helped establish the likes of CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, Sheamus, Jack Swagger.
Of course it also had Ricky Ortiz, Braden Walker and Gavin Spears, but they can't all be winners.
