Some of you might remember that back at Christmas time, my brother gave tickets to me, my friends, and my family to a Supershow in Springfield, MA. Looking back at it today, it was awesome. It was a house show as well, so it made it all the better. So before I get to some results and comments, let me tell you something that was pretty funny in my opinion. My friend wanted us to wear our favorite our favorite wrestler's T-Shirt, without telling who it was. I came out with a yellow and black N on my chest, my friend...... John Cena attire. Oh lord. It's like an old cartoon all over again. I actually got a good laugh at it, really.
So after getting some popcorn, nachos, and getting stared at by a few other kids (Mostly myself for what I was wearing), we took our seats. We were above the entrance tunnel, but still had a real good view of the ring. Even my friend was impressed once he was able to get a good look at everything. So with all of us settled at the ring lights on, let's get it on!
1. R-Truth beat Drew McIntyre when Kelly Kelly distracted him, for R-Truth to roll him up. This is was pretty fun way to kick off the show, R-Truth got a louder reaction then I expected. Some fans were chanting: "YOU FAIL!" instead of "WHAT'S UP?" during his entrance. (They were kicked out during the match) Me and my friend sang along to McIntyre's entrance theme, which surprised some of our other friends. A kid a couple of rows beside me kept yelling: This is a conspiracy! He cheated! This a new one to me. A kid likes Drew McIntyre?
2. Koztino beat The Uso Brothers to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship with a double Cobra form Santino onto both Uso's. The Anonymous GM came on before to match, to HUGE heat. And a "Come on!" form my family. Tony Chimel read it this time around, and the match changed to a dance off! Santino and Vlad did the robot, but the Uso's refused to take place, attacking them instead. The bell rung, making a wrestling match official. Nothing much to comment on here, except The Uso's pulled the switch a lot. And that when there was two Uso's on the mat, and Santino was forming the Cobra, my friend wanted Vladamir to do it with him. We can only wish.
3. Zack Ryder vs Yoshi Tatsu went to a no contest, when The Corre rushed the ring and attacked. I marked when Ryder came out. I was singing the song, and I even did the L motion with my hands. Everybody was looking at me like I was crazy, but that was a good time none the less.
My friend: (When Yoshi's coming out): Is he supposed to be form a happy SNES game?
This match got the lowest reaction of the night, and was kept short. But everyone near me hated it when The Corre came out to deliver an undercard punishment.
Wade Barrett got on the microphone, and personally guaranteed a Corre member victory at The Royal Rumble. He passed the mic to Heath Slater, who called out The Big Show, telling him to face The entire Corre man to men. Big Show came out with a chair, causing the four to flee. Big Show responded by challenging any member of the group to match right here, right now. After some chatting and a bit of arguing, Barrett slowly got into the ring for a special attraction match.
4. Big Show beat Wade Barrett with The Chokeslam after taking out the ENTIRE Corre. Before the ending, Barrett was really given a chance. Slater and Gabriel kept interfering behind the ref's back. Heck, Big Zeke came in and impressed the crowd by BODYSLAMING The Big Show while the ref was down. Speaking of, The Big Show's chops sound brutal live. Eventually Slater got elbowed, Gabriel knocked off the top rope, and Ezekiel knocked off the apron, before The Chokeslam ended everything.
After the match, The Corre ran into the ring and attempted a beating, before Koztino, Yoshi Tatsu, and Daniel Bryan ran in for the save. Good stuff, although I wanted to see a 450.
*Intermission*
5. Kofi Kingston beat Dolph Ziggler with a Trouble in Paradise to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Before the match, Dolph guaranteed three things. 1: That he would win the Intercontinental Championship tonight 2: That he would win the World Heavyweight Championship tomorrow 3: That Zach Ryder would win the Rumble, and that they would have the greatest Wrestlemaina match of all time. I'd love to see it, but I think I'd have to keep dreaming. Kofi tried to throw one of his shirts into the crowd, but Ziggler snatched it up and did a Ric Flair elbow drop onto the thing. The crowds chants grew louder and louder, before he threated to walk out of the building. Kofi ran up to him and choked him out with his shirt, before throwing him into the ring. This match was surprisingly back and forth, my friend actually thought for a minute Ziggler could win. But knowing the concept of most house show title matches, and seeing an article on him in our newspaper promoting the show, I wasn't shocked to see Kofi get the victory. Dolph stumbled to the back after the match.
Sign: Dolph, take up golfing.
6. Daniel Bryan beat Alex Riley by DQ, when Riley used his briefcase, to retain the WWE United States Championship. Oh, so THAT"S what he needs it for! Heh, just kidding. Me and my friend played a game during this match. He'd play Jim Ross supporting Bryan, and I'd play Michal Cole supporting Riley. It is was an interesting matchup to say the least. Nothing much to talk about for this match, expect Bryan did a bit more high flying that night.
After Riley left to the back, The Bella's came out to check up on Bryan. But once he was up.... Shockers. The Bella's slapped Bryan! Bella's heel turn, anyone? Maryse then walked out. Me and my friend enjoyed that, and we both titled our heads and pretended to take a picture with our pointer finger and thumb. It certainly got a laugh out of the guys. She got on the mic and dissed Ted DiBiase, calling him a coward for not being here. She went on and on about him being a loser, before spotting Bryan. Godfather appearance, anyone? Before she could get a word out, Gail Kim ran out for some reason, and a four way brawl started. Cue the GM's music, cue the boos. A special divas tag team match was booked.
7. Gail Kim beat The Bella Twins after getting in an inside cradle after taking one of them out. Maryse dropped to the ground and left when Gail wanted to tag in, making it nothing more then a handicap match. Which disappointed my dad. He wanted to see Maryse in the ring. I did too. And The Bella's cheated a lot for some reason. Again, Bella heel turn?
8. John Cena and Randy Orton beat The Miz and CM Punk with an RKO/AA combo on both men. The Miz claimed he's losing his voice before the match, and he kinda did. As time progressed by, he sounded more and more like Owen Hart (R.I.P). When CM Punk came out, I raised my fist up into the air for a quick second, as to say: Hail Nexus. And if you thought Randy's pop was crazy, the floor was SHAKING when Cena came out. I almost fell out of my chair. While Punk was messing around with Tony Chimel (Which was pretty funny to watch), Riley kept getting involved, giving the heels a chance. Randy was pounded on most of the match, before the hot tag was given. Cena hit his five moves of doom onto The Miz, before Riley got on the apron. Randy chased him to the back, returning just in time for the finish. A group of fans lost there popcorn when the faces won. You could hear there booing nearly overlapping the cheers. Cena and Orton celebrated with the fans to end the show.
Overall, it was amazing. It wasn't live and it was somewhat predicable, but who cares? It was awesome. It could be the fact that my last event was in 2002/2003, but it just felt like a night I will never forget.
