Thing is, this wouldn't be such a bad idea, if they only hired the winner. Only one new diva would be all right, but then we have to hire all the ret of them as consolation prizes.
Look here.
2004 Diva Search: Winner- Christy Hemme People They Hired: Christy Hemme Joy Giovanni Amy Weber Maria Kanellis Michelle McCool
2005 Diva Search: Winner- Ashley Massaro Who They Hired: Ashley Massaro Kristal Marshall
2006 Diva Search Winner: Layla El Who They Hired: Layla El Milena Roucka (aka Rosa Mendes) Rebecca DiPietro Maryse Oullet
2007 Diva Search: Winner- Eve Torres Who They Hired: Eve Torres Lena Yada Taryn Terrell (aka Tiffany)
So every year, they hire at least 4 Divas in a matter of months. That's too much.

I will forever be in awe of the WWE's ability to make me not care about sexy women groping each other.

Ah, yeah, you're right.
Sorry. I'll delete it.
Either way, I'm breaking a window.

Before I say anything, I will acknowledge that I'm in a horrible mood today and just not feeling very well to boot.
Having said that, you know what I wish WWE would do? Get rid of the ring. Get rid of of the wrestlers, the referees, and the announcers. Hire a bunch of generic models and become the mix of SNL and soap operas they apparently want to be. Then the moronic part of my brain that hopes they will someday produce a wrestling product that makes me want to watch it again will finally accept it and move on.

As much as this idea repulses me If WWE find another Layla, Christy, Maryse or Maria I won't complain. Another good looking women who can just barely wrestle a match? They have anough of those already. And I notice you leave out the one Diva Search contest who went on to become a good worker. And even then it took like four years for her to get any good.

Because to be a good worker, you have to actually, y'know, work

I fail to see how the inclusion of more women on the show is a bad thing in any way. It's just smarks whining about one less possible segment for boring IWC darlings like William Regal to possibly partake in. Honestly it's just bored and tiresome the way the IWC overreacts to stuff like this. You have to think of it from a business standpoint. The Divas division has become a joke, the markiest of the marks don't give a damn about AJ or Naomi or how good a Diva's workrate is, and therefore the Diva Search is a way to reel in the casual fan or the channel flipper and keep the core audience interested. If you have little to no interest in wrestling and you're a 18-30 year old guy channel surfing and you come across a bunch of hot women in a wrestling ring chances are you're going to stop and watch, and maybe eventually watch the rest of the show. There is nothing wrong with having another Diva Search, Raw has become a joke anyways. What else is there that could be skipped over segment wise? A Santino/Kozlov match? Ted Dibiase? Guest host gigs? Because that's what will probably get bumped- things nobody gives a damn about in the first place. Plus, knowing how Cole acts now you can bet it'll be worth watching for the commentary alone.

Dude, the crowd - the casual fans - did not give a flying f*** about the Diva Search any of the three unbearable years they did it. And the only decent thing it ever produced was McCool, and that sure took long enough.

Also returning: 10-15 minutes of apathy per show

It could be argued that any one of those three is hot, but none of them are exactly models in the traditional sense. Two of them can talk extremely well and all three are more than passable in the ring. And they've all gotten quite over, whereas the pure models (and even the ones they attempt to legitimize) flounder, especially when pitted against these three. The fans like eye candy, sure. But they've got plenty of that on the roster already. I don't really see how they need any more and any additional divas would just get lost in the shuffle.
