So much Conway Pop discussion, but no one really knows what it is. A Conway Pop is what happens when you are so freaking awesome that the crowd is in silence because of how much awe you are radiating. I mean, just look at him...

I can see how they could silence someone.

I think that 90% of the time that somebody describes "go away" heat, it's because they don't want to admit that the heel is working them. It certainly exists, but I don't think it's nearly as common as people try to pretend it is. Can you give an example? I think they're very distinct kinds of heat and I'm not disputing your point, but I'd like to see what exactly you mean. honestly, if you're willing to count individual reactions rather than general crowd reaction then it certainly exists. Anytime you choose to boos someone because you don't want to watch them wrestle rather than because of their character you're giving them X-Pac heat.

And in X-Pac's case, I always felt that incarnation of Sean Waltman wasn't suited for face runs.

That's been happening forever in wrestling. That's not X-pac heat, that's what people confuse it as. No, this is the first time someone's labeled it. X-Pac heat is real, but its existed since before X-Pac. Right you are. Rocky Maivia had this kind of heat in his first year.

For a heel, it's a myth. Heat is heat. If you're a heel and the audience REALLY wants you to go away rather than get destroyed or get one-upped by a face, they won't react at all, out of protest or disdain. Because if they boo you, that's a sign for you to get pushed harder. For a face, it's when a face gets booed because the audience wants them gone or one-upped by someone. This is wrong. It is not a myth, as countless people on this board alone have acknowledged giving X-Pac heat to wrestlers who they do not like. There are some wrestlers who do make fans change the channel. Or they fast-forward the DVR. Or at live events, they just use the match as a piss break. Or whatever. But to say that X-Pac heat does not exist is a lie. Vince isn't stupid -- he knows the difference between a heel who's doing their job well and one who the fans are indifferent about or are just crapping all over. He knows who's getting X-pac heat, and they're not going to get pushed. Do you have any kind of proof of that? How can you tell the difference between a "I want to see you get beat up" boo and a "get off my TV" boo? In both cases, they're just saying the word "boo". You might be able to make a case for a face, but with a heel, there's no way to tell. Again, I will only find the term X-pac heat valid, if a large portion of the audience changed the channel when X-pac showed up. Smarks are only basing the arena fans opinons on theirs. Thats it.

I agree with chunkylover, I think getting a Conway Pop is much more damning for a heel than getting X-Pac heat, since in the latter case they would still be getting audible boos rather than silence. X-Pac heat can only be accurately applied to a face that gets booed, hence John Cena regularly is the victim of X-Pac heat in many PPVs (and his 'controversial' popularity is seen as a good thing in the eyes of WWE Creative).

I don't believe in X-Pac heat for reasons stated above by other people but if I accept that X-Pac heat is real than I say that Vickie Guererro isn't a mega heel but actually getting "go away" reactions.

Maybe he has his own special kind of heat, which is certainly not a bad thing.

Always found the term stupid.
Everytime I see someone say "go away heat", I think they're only basing it on how they feel. If a bunch of people are booing someone, its heat. And heat is heat.

X-Pac heat is the kind of heat 90% of heels in wwe right now wish they could get.

It certainly exists, but I don't think it's nearly as common as people try to pretend it is. I think it was different with X-Pac due to the point where he was supposed to have turned face by default in the InVasion, and yet people still wanted him gone. Not to mention that on shows that he wasn't even ON, crowds would chant "X-Pac Sucks" whenever they had nothing else to chant.
