I did something like this last year, but basically I'm looking at the 30 superstars who entered last years Royal Rumble match and determine the chances that they enter once again this year.
Good way to see the roster turnover by looking year to year since it's such a large sample size of the roster in one match.
But anyway, the 2010 Royal Rumble.....
1. Dolph Ziggler: In a World Heavyweight title match at the PPV. (No)
2. Evan Bourne: Out with an injury, still a month or two way from returning to the ring. (No)
3. CM Punk: A favorite to win, likely to enter and maybe have a little help from his new pals. (Yes)
4. JTG: A month or two ago, I would have said no. But he's been starting to get a little push lately, so he just might get a spot again. (Yes)
5. The Great Khali: Been away for awhile doing Big Brother in India. Show is over now, but don't know if he'll be back for the Rumble. (Unsure)
6. Beth Phoenix: The 2nd woman to ever enter the Rumble match, there's been no indication that she is going to do it again, but then again, there really wasn't any she would last year either. But I still don't see them doing it again. (No)
7. Zack Ryder: Might get a slot for comedic purposes and to get tossed in short order......basically the same thing he did last year. (Yes)
8. Triple H: Still out, but expected back at any time. Fells like we've been saying that for months though. Could very well pop up as a (not so) surprise return. (Unsure)
9. Drew McIntyre: Probably a lock for the match again. Participated in a #1 contenders match recently and is involved weekly on Smackdown. (Yes)
10. Ted DiBiase: On sort of a losing streak, but still very likely to enter. With current happenings with him, he might not last long this year. (Yes)
11. John Morrison: Pretty much a sure thing to be in it. Potential dark horse winner with his recent flirting with the main event scene. But would they have the guts to pull the trigger? Who Knows. (Yes)
12. Kane: No doubter. He's only been in the last 12 Rumble matches in a row. (Yes)
13. Cody Rhodes: Already confirmed for the match via commentary and the angle he's been in on Smackdown. (Yes)
14. MVP: Released from the company. (No)
15. Carlito: Released from the company. (No)
16. The Miz: Current WWE Champion, will be defending his title on the PPV. (No)
17. Matt Hardy: Released from the company. (No)
18. Shawn Michaels: Now retired and heading into this years Hall of Fame. (No)
19. John Cena: Likely to enter, especially if Punk does. Always a favorite to win and has home field advantage this year in Boston. Would be a huge waste for him to win it, but it hasn't stopped them before. (Yes)
20. Shelton Benjamin: Released from the company. His Rumble match streak will end at 8 straight. (No)
21. Yoshi Tatsu: Profile is a whole lot lower this year then it was last year with ECW going away and him being placed on Raw....or Superstars. Could slip in to fill space, but I see him being on the outside looking in. (No)
22. Big Show: Already said in promos that he will be entering. (Yes)
23. Mark Henry: Pretty safe bet to be involved, and we get to hear the usual announcer spiel of WHO CAN POSSIBLY THROW MARK HENRY OVER THE TOP ROPE!!!! Despite the fact that he's been in numerous Rumbles and never won. (Yes)
24. Chris Masters: About the same as Yoshi. Could slip in there if needed to fill out the match, but not overly likely. More likely then Yoshi though I'd say. (Yes)
25. R-Truth: Announcers confirmed his involvement on Smackdown this week. (Yes)
26. Jack Swagger: Very likely to enter. Good opportunity for a strong showing to bring his stock back up. (Yes)
27. Kofi Kingston: Pretty much a given to enter as the Intercontinental Champion. (Yes)
28. Chris Jericho: Taking time away from the company again, unless he pops up as a surprise, he's not likely at all to be in there. (No)
29. Edge: Current World Heavyweight Champion. Will be defending his title at the PPV. (No)
30. Batista: Left the company last year. Not likely to return anytime soon. (No)
