Who cares? Do fans of Lost, 24, etc have debates about ratings?
WWE should be judged by their on screen content, which in 2010 has mostly been excellent and a huge improvement over the previous 5/6 years.

Ratings like this mean nothing.
The more revealing numbers to look at are the actual viewing figures; how many people are tuning in and watching, and that hasn't fallen as much as the Nielson points ratings would indicate at first glance, I don't think anyway.

Wrestling has suffered because of a generation being lost to the MMA boom, which has seen a lot of jaded wrestling fans move on. I was like that until 2010. With a new generation of guys being primed to take over, I think things may turn around.

The way people watch TV has drastically changed. I bet a lot of people Tivo raw, or watch it online.

There is so much competition with the internet, tons of channels, and the prevalence of DVR. Hardly anything on TV sees its ratings go up year to year these days and even great TV shows like Breaking Bad get miniscule ratings compared to what mediocre shows got even in the 80s and 90s

I bet that reason is minor at best. If people wanted to, they can easily tune in if there's something interesting on. But since thats not the case, they don't. Simple as that.

Yeah, there was something about that a while ago that, in terms of raw viewership, it wasn't that far off. But since TV's have grown more and more common, even since the 90's, ratings decrease.

Ratings dont mean anything anymore. 99.9% of american households dont even have input of what is actually being watched.. 4 million viwers is still a good average number of viewers

Who cares? Do fans of Lost, 24, etc have debates about ratings? Not until their shows get canceled for having dramatic season-to-season drops.

Television as we know it will probably be a dead medium in a few years anyways.

Of the top 100 rated TV shows(single viewing) of all time the only ones from this past 2 decades were Super Bowl telecasts and the Olympics with the only exception being the Seinfeld finale. tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2009/03/21/top-100-rated-tv-shows-of-all-time/14922Even shows like American Idol get an 8.6 for their finale. www.nytimes.com/2010/05/28/arts/television/28winner.html?_r=1If you dont think the rise of cable/satellite tv, video games, dvds, and the internet have cut into tv viewership across the board then I dont know what to tell you. Raw still does very good ratings for cable tv and the declining ratings I feel has little to do with the product and much more to do with the ever evolving society in which we live.

Who cares? Do fans of Lost, 24, etc have debates about ratings? Haha, it really is something only wrestling fans seem to do. I chalk it up to a lot of wrestling fans being insecure about their love of it. Especially since it hasn't been "cool" for about 10 years now.

With more channels and shows appearing every day plus the increases of guys with TV's every year is obvios that ratings will decline

TV ratings in general have gone down due to the advent of DVR and other programs like that. The only thing that I know is on a huge upswing is the NFL.

Who cares? Do fans of Lost, 24, etc have debates about ratings? Doctor Who fans do this after every episode. It's probably one of the top 5 rated shows in the UK, but the ratings are still scrutinised constantly with many a cry about the sky falling. (and I think that is fan insecurity after the show was cancelled for years and years)

Rating, Shmatings. Ticket sales mean way more and those are doing just fine.
