The real truth is that, if Sting's career is winding down, he deserves to go out on the biggest event there is. And that's Wrestlemania.
He couldn't handle a full-time WWE schedule. But give him one night, a good opponent, and a simple feud, and it stands to reason he'd give one Hell of a performance. Hell, turn Orton Heel again and have him face Sting. Then you can have Orton methodically beat down Sting, and then Sting hit the big-time comebacks to pop the crowd.

If Sting did come back, and have one last match in WWE, there is only two guys who feel like they would fit. Cena just because they're both the two most genuine and morally babyface of their respective eras and could put on a hell of a match... and one other person. Now it has virtually no chance of happening, and even if it did it would involve two older guys who are starting to break down due to age and injuries. But damn if it wouldn't be something to see the last match of possibly both men in... Sting vs. The Undertaker at Wrestlemania

I really think Sting will make the HOF. Just because he had no Vince affiliation doesn't really mean much at all now that WWE is *the* wrestling company seeing as they own pretty much every major organization with the lineage of superstars.
I don't think he will compete for the WWE, but I do think he will make an appearance at a WrestleMania event in some form.

I wonder who'd induct him. Flair's in wcw, Muta deserves his own induction, and im not sure if luger is on good terms with the wwe at this point. That leaves only Dibiase (and their friendship is based more off their religious beliefs), or possibly dusty or animal (and again, the road warriors deserve their own induction).
EDIT: I meant flair's in TNA, not wcw (unless he jumped into a time portal)

If Sting and WWE would like to work together, then this is the perfect time to do it. Wrestlemania is in Atlanta this year, the old home of WCW where Sting became a star. He could be inducted into the HOF, have a Wrestlemania dream match with Taker, and get a long-awaited DVD release of his WCW career. If not now, then never.... I think it's now or never for Sting. That's not to say that some year down the road he won't be in the WWE HOF, but as far as any other interaction, this is it. Regarding Sting's legacy, if TNA hasn't ruined it already, WWE can't do much worse.

Why wouldn't any fan of Sting want him inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame? The point that he didn't need the WWE to become one of the biggest stars of his time has been proven. At best I could understand not wanting him to perform for them at all, but the HOF is different. They aren't going to destroy his character and it wouldn't be him selling out. It would just be getting the recognition he deserves and a Sting DVD from his WCW/NWA years, which I am sure alot of Sting fans would love to see. Vince has been respectful when talking about him, and I don't see why Sting wouldn't want to do this. Last time I checked TNA doesn't have a HOF, and if they did no would care about it and the NWA one I am sure is nice, but wouldn't have the exposure the WWE's does. I think Sting declining the WWE HOF would come off as bitter to me, while him not joining after the Invasion was just protecting himself and being true to WCW.

I would mark for it if he got inducted and I'm not even a Sting follower.

Induct Sting let him give a HOF speech and have his place in the HOF. The guy shouldn't do anything in ring as I think his claim to fame should be the biggest name to never work for Vince McMahon.
A HOF speech would still leave that intact as he would never have stepped into a ring for Vince McMahon.

If circumstances were different, Flair and Luger.

I gotta laugh when fans claim that Sting going to WWE at this point in his career would somehow taint his legacy. Say what you want about Vince, but short of giving Sting a scatological pervert gimmick or something (admittedly unlikely in the PG era), the WWE could do NOTHING worse than some of the shit TNA got Sting involved in recently. Hell, Sting was the slap-bang in the middle of many of WCW's very worst moments. The Robocop debacle? That goddawful Vampiro feud? Feel free to add your own. Even what should have been Sting's finest hour at Starrcade '97 was surrounded in controversy and political BS.
I'm a massive Sting mark, but let's face it, his career has been covered in shovels of pure wrestlecrap. It's not far off Kane levels of awfulness. A performer of Sting's calibre doesn't deserve that. The HOF induction, the DVD, the merchandise and all the rest of it will cement his status as a legend and hopefully right the wrongs other companies have inflicted on his legacy. And I'll bet Sting knows that.

Maybe they could just induct the fake Sting. There is always room for a fake Sting in pro wrestling.

im not sure if luger is on good terms with the wwe at this point. He was in the most recent download pack for Smackdown vs Raw, and WWE.com did a "Where are They Now" for him not that long ago. So I'd say he's on a lot better terms than the past few years. And if he were to induct Sting, he better also get inducted by maybe Big Show if they want to hold off on showing Sting till the end. The guy was MASSIVELY over at one point, and has held quite a few titles. Maybe they could just induct the fake Sting. There is always room for a fake Sting in pro wrestling. Japan would love it.
