The Sun says that Vince wants Sting to be a part of the HOF 2011 promo, and of WM27:

Although I'm not a huge Sting fan, I'd still like to see him get a chance to go in the HOF.
I REALLY hope he doesn't have a match at WM27 unless he can still go, which looks harder and harder for him all the time. Besides, who would he face off against?
Taker? Two beat up veterans trying to go? Although Sting coming in and saying he will finish the streak in his first and only match in the WWF would be awesome, I just don't think they could put on a good show together. If the Nexus was still functioning without Punk I could see a Taker & Sting vs Barrett and another random Nexus member as a way to protect them both.
Jericho? I could see this and think it would have potential, but that would basically give us the same thing we had back at WM 25.
Vince? Never say never, and I personally never get tired of seeing "Mr" McMahon in full heel mode get destroyed.

I hope he shows up for the Hall of Fame, and maybe has a segment where someone runs down WCW in the ring, the lights go out, and he appears with the bat and just tees off on them. His old Crow music has to play as well.

Heres a question, would Sting get much of a reaction these days in WWE if he showed up? The reactions for Bret were not as epic as they should have been, so what sort of reaction from the modern fans would be gotten from a guy who has never been on WWE tv before, or even mentioned that much?
I'm not talking about at the hall of fame, he would get a great reaction there as the people who attend are usually older fans. But if he showed up on Raw or at Wrestlemania.

He would probably get a good Wrestlemania pop, considering older fans DO attend that.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, he should NEVER work for the WWE in ANY capacity. Just the very act of doing business with them will water down his legacy tremendously.
End rant.

That being said, I think Sting needs to be inducted into the HOF for any Wrestling Hall of Fame to have legitmacy. He, to me, just seems like one of those names in the business that's too big to ignore. Then again, Randy Savage.

Because going into the WWE HoF and possibly doing a short run in the E will negate everything that he accomplished in his career. Who can argue with that logic?

What I'm saying is, him not competiting in the WWF/E is a huge part of his legacy and makes him stand out. Take that away from him and he'd be just another legend. Its not that hard to figure out.

Seems kind of foolish if you ask me. It's not really an accomplishment if you refuse to work for the biggest company in your profession. Especially over a reason like not sure if he would be booked correctly. If it was some moral high ground then sure it might hold some weight. But he simply didn't think Vince would put him over properly. Now all the E is asking for is a HOF induction and probably to put him over to their universe. Win/win for the old Stinger.

Sting was my favorite wrestler as a kid and I still love the guy. If I could see in the WWE just one time.... Man I would be happy. He needs to be in the Hall of Fame and I need a Sting DVD.

Ah, the credible source of information that is The Sun. And what is wrong with this article? JR and Bischoff quotes? Back to topic: I can't see any problem for Sting for being inducted in HOF. What's wrong with that? His titles reigns are recognized on WWE.com (you can find some of his matches over there as well). Being the wrestling legend just for 'never working for Vince' is not something he deserves.

If Sting and WWE would like to work together, then this is the perfect time to do it. Wrestlemania is in Atlanta this year, the old home of WCW where Sting became a star. He could be inducted into the HOF, have a Wrestlemania dream match with Taker, and get a long-awaited DVD release of his WCW career. If not now, then never....

I understand what the guy means not that I agree with it I wouldn't mind seeing Sting being inducted into the HOF and having an encounter with Taker of some sorts But what I think hes trying to say is that hes the only remaining big legend from time gone by that has never worked for WWE at ANY point in their career and to be so over with the fans without stepping foot into a WWE Ring is a mighty fine accomplishment if you ask me

But to think he should not do it because of a legacy issue just seems off to me. Sure the fringe might say "Oh you f***ing sell out!". But it seems most wrestling fans would be happy to see it. Plus i don't think his legacy would be hurt by it. What it comes down to (for me) is if the WWE would have given him 100% promise he would have been booked fairly he would have been in the WWE all those years ago. This is just the E wanting to have a big name for the HOF while acknowledging his impact on WCW. Plus i want to see the DVD they release on him when he finally comes on board. ;D
