So I was looking up some old Owen Hart matches, and I came across the USWA/Lawler/McMahon storyline that was going on during 1993. I don't think I am allowed to put up any YouTube links regarding this, but if you look up "McMemphis", specifically Chapters 3 and 15, you'll see a 1993 version of what would become Mr. McMahon during the Attitude Era. It's awesome!
Youtube.com and search "McMemphis"

I thought USWA wasn't WWE owned for some reason? So technically, this footage featuring Vince McMahon in a wrestling angle isn't WWE-owned... That's probably the first and only time that situation applies. Awesome loophole-ness.

I believe they bought the rights to it at the same time that Jerry Jarrett helped them sign Vladimir Kozlov. They are now using that footage to put together a Jerry Lawler DVD, as I understand it.

I remembered when this happened, and the first thing that stuck out with me was huge Vince McMahon`s physique was. Strange that it had to take place in Memphis for me to notice.

I just watched some of it and it totally seems like Bizarro-WWF to me.
Do I get this right?: -Jerry Lawler is some sort of Hogan-esque babyface -Vince McMahon and WWF invade his fed in Memphis -Bret Hart is heel -Jeff Jarrett is babyface -Tatanka is heel
I just watched some clips and it really seems like Bizarro world to me. I watched WWF in the 90's where Lawler was the most chickenshit heel ever and he was feuding with Bret Hart. Lawler wasn't even potrayed as a real wrestler and he could only beat lower midcarders by heavy cheating. Watching him go all Hogan on Bret Hart and the rest of WWF in these clips is surreal.

Even at that time it was kind of a stretch. WWF was very popular in the south during that time as well. Especially, Bret Hart. The WWF guys really had to turn the heelness up to get the Memphis fans to boo. Bret, Vince, Owen, etc. had to call us rednecks and other inappropiate terms to get us to boo.
