I'd like if there was indeed a flood of used PS3s - I've been meaning to get one and don't care about online play, and that'd probably make it easier to get.

Yeah, I have a feeling the large majority of people who say they are considering getting rid of their PS3s are the ones who live and die by online games. This being such a "I want it, and I want it now" culture, the only reason they're saying it is because they want to play something online right now. Once PSN is back up, if they haven't gone through with the switch, they're likely to not go through with it at all. Up until then, though, there will be nothing but people threatening to abandon their PS3s... I believe and agree with this 100%. I think it's mainly the pissed off CoD players that are threatening this...and once the system is back up, I doubt many will honestly go through with it, though some undoubtedly will, and we'll see those people in the Xbox forums eventually complaining about Microsoft issues, or the "type of CoD players" you get on XBL. But again, I go back to my prior statement about "that's what you get when you REFUSE to play ANYTHING that doesn't require online capabilities, or isn't an online-based shooting game."

Looking at the trailers for L.A. Noire looks like Rockstar has another hit on their hands

Looking at the trailers for L.A. Noire looks like Rockstar has another hit on their hands I don't see it selling anything less than 2 million, that's for damn sure. I think it might do 3-4 million just on the fact that it is Rockstar, but I don't know if it'll do Red Dead Redemption or Grand Theft Auto type numbers. L.A. Noire looks to be very, very story driven. I like games like that, but mainstream gaming, not so much, so we'll have to see.

For all the flak it got, I still enjoyed it a lot, but yeah, it's not without its flaws. I didn't mind Nero much at all either, but what more annoyed me was {Spoiler} If you liked fighting a boss/level, you're gonna LOVE doing it over and over! Lazy design does not make me a happy camper.
That said, still had lots of fun. Now back to 2011.

Kotaku posted the results of a survey given to some PS3 owners on if they were considering selling their PS3 for a 360, 1/5 of those surveyed said they are considering it, and it was a large survey pool, so pretty much around 1/5 of PS3 owners are contemplating selling their PS3 for a 360. And I bet that of that 1/5, not even half will go through with it. I think it's a small percentage as well. It's one thing if you can't do anything with your system, but you can still do everything except play online. You can still use netflix and all that stuff. I haven't even thought about switching over. Never crossed my mind.

Went to GameStop and pre-ordered LA NOIRE today. They said they have a guarantee going on where, if the PSN is not back up and running as of 5/17 (the game's release date) you WILL be able to get your "exclusive bonus levels/missions" at a later date by entering a code printed on your receipt.
Basically, they're saying you'll still be able to get your GameStop bonus content regardless of when the PSN comes back up.

It seems some retailers are reporting lots of PS3s being traded in but as they say in the article it’s a small sample and another guy said he hadn’t noticed anything. Like others have speculated it’s the “hardcore online shooter crowd” that are trading them in. www.next-gen.biz/news/psn-outage-begins-to-hit-retailOn a different topic my poor neglected PSP is getting played a lot more recently. First there was half-minute hero offering a brilliant homage/spoof of 16bit RPGs and now I’m addicted to Persona 3 portable (it’s just come out over here as a nice collectors edition to make up for the delay). When I’m done with that I still have Tactis Ogre to play (I'm a sucker for these collectors’ editions).

That was probably what saved that game from getting so repetitive, the fact that they made John, and the guys he encountered, really interesting and made you pull or hate them. On saying that, I gtot GTA4 after RDR, expecting more of the same, and instead found dull characters I couldnt care less about in scenerios where, frankly, alot of the time I didnt want to help them. Traded that. But clearly GTA is the bigger of the two games and still has that 'highest rated' tagline, so you may be right that Noire wont do quite as huge numbers.

I've logged way more hours in Duodecim then I'd like to think.

Honestly...it's what you get when you pay for online free. I refer you to PC Gaming. Always been free online. It's not like you're special because you're stupid enough to pay for peer-to-peer gaming on top of already paying for your internet connection.

All this aside, I can't wait to see the 1st Kevin Butler commercial after this mess is cleared up. Also, I can't wait to see Sony's E3 showcase.

Traded that. But clearly GTA is the bigger of the two games and still has that 'highest rated' tagline, so you may be right that Noire wont do quite as huge numbers. While you are right that RDR has a heavy amount of story, you could still basically go"GTA in the wild west" doing random shit and there was still plenty of "pew, pew, pew" action in it. L.A. Noire is putting the action into the backseat for the most part, the story in the game is being presented as its strongest part and main focus. Hell it doesn't even have online. It is the first Rockstar game on the HD gaming systems without online. Let's be honest here, a good chunk of people, if not the majority, bought RDR because it looked like GTA in the wild west. It obviously isn't, but that would only be clear to those who bothered with the story. I still think L.A. Noire will sell well, just the overall lack of action and no online will turn away most of the mainstream gamers.

I only have one PS3 game that I play online (Demon's Souls), and it's totally fine playing it offline. It's really not bothered me, I still use it as much as before... and you can still use Netflix on it (or atleast I can), so I'm fine. Even with a 360, I don't play online much if at all.
I actually haven't turned on my 360 since this whole thing happened.

Yeah, Netflix still does work, if you know how to crack it, since it's a bit tricky...but yeah, since the program accesses your Netflix information INSTEAD on your PSN information, that's why it still works. If people are still unsure, i'll teach you through it.
1.) Log on to Netflix. 2.) As the program is loading, your PSN log-in will surface. 3.) Log in as necessary, and when the PSN tells you that it's "down for maintenance", press the O button and back out of it. 4.) Netflix won't close down and will keep loading up. 5.) Rinse and repeat Step 3 until the home menu loads up. 6.) Watch awesome movies.
;D
