Over/under- a 12.0 rating for these NBA Finals? (Let's make it a contest to see Who comes closest.) What network are the games on? ABC

Mavs in 6 for me.
I picked Dallas to win the NBA title all year long, and have no reason to change that.

Ew, I hate the 2-3-2 format. If the road team steals 1 of the first 2, thats a brutal road for the team with home court.

How long until we get the first Finals montage consisting only of "The Decision", pre-season LeBron, Wade, Bosh pep rally, Heat season highlights....and then at the end a vague mention of the Mavs being there?
ESPN is probably already feverishly working.

What fools they look like now I remember at some point back in ... I believe March, Miami lost 3 or 4 in a row to some mediocre teams and I officially declared myself off the bandwagon predicting them to win the title. Ah damn I regret that now. If they win I can't say I called it from the jump, but I'm rooting for them still like I did. June 2011: Bow Down To Your King

What fools they look like now Not really, because early in the season the Heat DID look like they would go out in the first or second round. Obviously they got their shit together and overcame their problem of only have 3 good players on the team. But early on they did look overhyped. And hell we can't forget their losing streak to teams that made it to the playoffs from a couple of months ago. Still good on the Heat for what they've done, but you can't call anyone fools for thinking the Heat weren't going to go far in the post season this year when they started out shaky and then went on a long losing streak to playoff-caliber teams.

2-3-2 is the worst part of the NBA playoffs. In that scenario I'd rather be the 3-5 team every time. I feel good about being able to steal one on the road and coming home for 3 in a row.

A recent NBA Finals rematch- and there are no Lakers or Celtics to be seen.
This is gonna be a fun series- great talent, storylines- and the Mav fans on here guarantee the NBA thread the rest of the way will not be boring to read.

I understand writing them off, I suppose, in the moment at least, but if you took a real hard look at it, the whole thing was so, so overblown. And I'm not just saying that in retrospect, I've been saying that all year.

Ew, I hate the 2-3-2 format. If the road team steals 1 of the first 2, thats a brutal road for the team with home court. I hate it as well. It's a relic of the early days of the league, back when every series before The Finals was a 5 game series. The Finals was set up as 2-3-2 to cut down on traveling between games for the teams and media, especially since back in those days games were played earlier in the day. Now it's just heavily archaic.

But still it was a dumb thing to say Again, no it isn't. We can only call things with how we see them, and at the time, the Heat did NOT look like a team that would go to the NBA Finals this year. It wasn't until the final stretch of the season that they actually looked like the team they were hyped to be in the offseason/preseason. Remember damn near everyone was predicting that the Lakers would have another three-peat. Would you call the people who thought the Lakers would get another title this year fools? No one thought they'd get swept by the Mavs after how the Lakers played in the regular season. Teams play differently in the regular season than how they play in the post season. So just because the Heat actually played up to their hype doesn't mean people were fools or dumb for thinking, given how they played in the regular season, that they wouldn't go far in the post season.

If anyone wants to catch up, here are the boxes from the first two Dallas vs. Miami games this season: espn.go.com/nba/recap?id=301127006espn.go.com/nba/recap?id=301220014A few things worth mentioning from them: -Both were before January. -Dallas ended Miami's first big winning streak of the season when they started getting it together. -Caron Butler dropped 23 in one of them and 13 in the other. Clearly won't be a factor this go around. -Miami held Dirk to 17-44 shooting in the two games.

I'm saying the Heat will win it all in 7. But that probably means that Dallas will win the Finals when it comes down to it. Either way, I'm sticking with the Heat winning the NBA Title.
If there's one positive to come out of this Finals series, it's that we're guaranteed to see one member of the 2002 Sacramento Kings team walk away with the NBA Title. 9 years after that controversial series against the Lakers with all of those referee calls against the Kings, either Peja Stojakovic or Mike Bibby will walk away this year as a member of an NBA Championship team.
