This year's Finals offers David Stern the opportunity to not only hand LeBron James the Larry O'Brien trophy, but also the chance to deny Mark Cuban his first NBA championship.
He very well may re-hire Tim Donaghy for this series.

I'll admit it. I want the Heat to win. Not because I'm a front runner, but because I love heels.
In fact, I love heels so much that if the Mavs do win I want Marc Cuban to release all those emotions and words he's bottled up duirng the playoffs and unleash them on David Stern right after he gets the trophy. It would be glorious.

He very well may re-hire Tim Donaghy for this series. If not Donaghy, then I'm sure his BFF Scott Foster is available. Really hoping Dallas can win not just to keep those pricks from winning a title, but to finally shut up all these bandwagon and front-running Heat fans that have appeared out of no where within the last 10 months.

Heat in 5.
There is no way that David Stern will allow Mark Cuban to hoist the Larry O'Brien Trophy.

Man, who cares about bandwagon fans? They went from being a boring team that was relatively unexciting to watch, to being the most exciting thing to watch in basketball in like a decade. Of course thats going to draw people in and gain new fans. It would be like adding Albert Pujols and David Wright to Florida to play with Hanley Ramirez. Id watch that team play every day, and would absolutely love doing it.
I love watching Miami play, and am not ashamed at all to say that Im definitely a fan of theirs. Wasnt last year. Am now. Rockets will always be #1, but damn if Miami isnt extremely entertaining to watch.

every fan of a successful team gets called "bandwagon". I wonder how many Mavs fans here, or anywhere, were as fervent in their fandom when they were winning 15 games a year before Cuban bought the team? (btw, Mark Cuban bought the Mavericks from Ross Perot's son? How was I not aware of this?)
Orlando never sold out games before they got Dwight Howard, not since Shaq left. I doubt very much Boston fans were at their peak during the M.L. Carr / Rick Pitino / Jim O'Brien era. And we'll see how long Cleveland fans feel like showing up out of spite as they go back to the lottery year after year. Success breeds fandom, its just the way it is. Who wants to watch the Timberwolves or Sacramento? Oh, right - back when they were fun to watch and competitive, everyone did.

The Rockets and Kevin McHale have tentatively agreed on a three-year deal plus a team option, pending agreement on McHale's coaching staff.

Rockets will always be #1, but damn if Miami isnt extremely entertaining to watch. And if Miami suddenly fell off a cliff and some new team emerged as the biggest thing since sliced bread, you'd stop being a Miami "fan" and latch onto the new team's bandwagon. To call yourself a "fan" when you've never cared about them before they were good, and probably won't care about them once they stop being fun to watch, doesn't really make you much of a fan at all. I'm not saying you shouldn't be allowed to watch them, because they're entertaining as hell to watch. Go ahead and enjoy it. But let's be honest: You aren't really a true fan of the team. Before they got LeBron and Bosh you couldn't name more than three guys on the Miami roster (Wade excluded). Front-runners, bandwagoners, pink hatters, whatever you wanna call them, they always annoy me to no end. They're the loudest bunch when things are going great, but when everything turns to s***, they're the fastest to jump overboard.

When your team's PR department is issuing an ad campaign like that, you know your fans are horrible. Miami fans were terrible fans before LeBron James and Chris Bosh showed up, they're terrible fans with LeBron James and Chris Bosh, and they'll be terrible fans after LeBron James and Chris Bosh are long gone. This isn't your typical bandwagon affect. Sure, the national outpouring of Heat fans is annoying, but the people who claim to have been "lifelong Heat fans" are even worse. South Florida sports fans are just awful fans, whether it's for the Heat, the Florida Marlins or the Florida Panthers.* * - Although let's be entirely honest here, professional hockey in Florida was destined to be a failure. That's on Gary Bettman, not the residents of South Florida or Tampa.

And who has claimed to be a "true" fan of the Heat? I didn't give a damn about them until this year. I've never hidden that. If they didn't have James and Bosh on the team I still wouldn't. If they added Boozer and Joe Johnson in the off season I wouldn't have either. With this crew they're a hell of a lot of fun to watch, and yes, for this season and this group I am a fan of theirs. I'm no die hard fan of the organization, but again I never claimed to be. I'll never be a true fan of any team other than the Nets.
The over reaction to "bandwagoning" is what annoys me. If you're that hyper sensitive to other fans that's something on you, not them. They shouldn't care, and I know I don't. I'll go a step farther. Not necessarily anyone in this thread, but if the Heat weren't as good as advertised and suddenly making every one eat a big plate of crow, the annoyance level towards them wouldn't be close to this. People are pissed because this wasn't supposed to work, and it is.

Go Heat! New new new new NEW WORLD ORDER That was the entire cause of our theme for the NBA season this year being the WCW. For that I'm glad. Also, since the season will be over within 7 games, I have to ask, are we going to be doing the WCNBA gimmick/theme next season as well? Please say yes. I'd like that too. Though we could switch gears and go with a WWF Attitude Era theme (with Miami most likely being DX).

People are pissed because this wasn't supposed to work, and it is. What do you mean this wasn't supposed to work? When you organize a team built around two of the top five players in the league and another very good player, it's supposed to work. Pretty much everyone knew this team was going to compete for titles and win at least once during their run. Maybe not this year, but down the road, people knew they'd win. One thing that annoys me is when these new Heat fans talk about people needing to eat crow or some nonsense like that, as if they believed in the team all along. Like I said, the bandwagoners are usually the loudest and most annoying of the bunch when things are going smoothly. The couple true Heat fans on this board don't seem to engage in that nearly as much.

I'm not calling out anyone in this thread, nor do I question anyone in this thread's fandom of whatever team they support. And for the most part, I don't care about who anyone else cheers for.
There's a certain sense of masochism that comes with aligning yourself with, well, anything in life that is decided via competition, but even more so with sports. Unless you actually suit up and play for whatever sports organization you support, you really don't get a say in how things are determined, which leads to frustrating moments where you watch a team that you've placed faith lose. I'd argue that the losing process, the failing process, is what makes winning a championship that much better. Usually, if you just automatically win at something you grow bored with it.
The thing that annoys me about bandwagoners/frontrunning fans is that for the most part, they skip the losing process. They weren't there for the build to the championship, but they latch onto a winner when it becomes apparent that they are indeed going to win. This annoyance definitely increases when they act as if they have they have a sense of entitlement, or as if they've "suffered" along the way to said championship. Like the old Wide World of Sports promo says, "The thrill of victory... and the agony of defeat" is what fuels competition and fan allegiance.
If you're a casual viewer of any sport, I don't mind you saying that you like a team that's a perennial contender. More likely than not, you're not going to be the complete asshat that's bragging about being better than everyone else. Of course, this is just my opinion.

A lot of casual fans/bandwagon fans just latch onto the hot, proven teams. They often don't get to feel the absolute soul sucking feeling of like, for example, witnessing the Thunder's collapse in Game 4 against Dallas( ).

You know it's too bad we can't post any Luger on nWo and vice versa promos since they're WWE property, but that would make this thread so much better, especially if you superimpose a player's head over Luger or the nWo's bodies.
